Rod let go at traps..9.88@136. too bad, it didnt 60ft at all..woulda been a mid 9 sec pass.
Poor old motor. Stock bore 6.0, scat rods, diamond Dished pistons, 5.3 heads, big ol cam, wilson/gmmp intake, nitro daves 200 shot 92mm plate 3350 raceweight

nova, she def turned a lot of rpm, you prob hear it rev up at the traps, thats when the rod let go. At ATL it was 7500 n/a and 8100 on nitrous...I just bumped limiter up to 8200 haha. I swapped to a 4.30 from a 4.86 gear before lsfest, but it still turned 7800 on the jug, converter slip plus the short 1-2 shift prob added a few hundred on the top end. If you listen you can hear it shake the tires in first gear hard. It hasnt seen a dyno in a while so I'm not sure where power falls off at, but it sure pulled clean to 7500rpm shifts. I think it let go because of harmonics at that high rpm, the rear main cap wasnt as tight as the rest of the mains, and #8 was what broke so I'm sure that didnt help it. I'm proud of the little joker though, i';ve been winding it up on stock ls1 lifters and rockers for 5 years!
new build is top secret haha. I'll tell after i see what it does. I'll say it has nice parts, but still a 6.0 block(I had mine sleeved on #7 and #8)

I knew she was humming! reminded me of my 6.0L L92(stock bottom LY6 with ARP bolts) I used to shift it 7500, but with the 4.86 gears and 26" tires, it would be through the traps at 8000k with 127 trap speed! yikes!!! but she is still kicking after 3 years! granted it dont see as much abuse this year, but the other 2 years i gave her hell!
and My race motor in the new car is still a good OL 6.0L block, I cant afford that high dollar stuff! hell its still cathedral port head! but they are ALL PRO's... and I just over rev'd it last friday(9200) on a miss shift on spray, and bent every exhaust valve. trying like hell to get some replacement valves and back together for the shootout.
new build going to make it to the shootout?

It's never easy looking at serious carnage! But I see it often... lol... sorry about your bad luck.
Do you think the rod broke or would you say rod bolt(s) failed? If #8 is loose, then you might consider measuring the rob bolt length as compared to a new bolt. Just thinking out loud.

I know how you feel I cracked 2 blocks in the past 2 years. Hope everything works out for you on your new build.

9200 and bent valves yuck! At least you did it while rowin' gears.
Rod bolt def failed, I would measure, but you can see one of the bolts thats broke in one pic, and the other, I never found. #7 was "loose" aka not as tight as the rest, but # is the one that flew apart
I will def be at Indy, i'm in high gear gettin it back together, new motor, new converter
I forgot to mention I had to pry the crank out of the block, the reluctor wheel was beat up pretty bad, all you can do is laugh

^^ no doubt, I was gonna come BS at LS fest, but I was trying to do too much. Everyone was breaking, I was working on cars, tuning on cars, running the vette and ctsv all at the same time haha. I literally didnt sit down but prob 5 min, barely ate, and hungover haha

Block is done, they said the deck looked more wavy than a emo kids hairdo. I'm still waiting on my rotating assy, some kind of kink in getting the pistons. I need it, LAST WEEK dangit!
I'm building a front mount trans am at the same time. I'm gona need winter break to catch up on sleep!
