Went to MIR for test and tune 9-16-2011. Car mods as follows:

2002 Z/28 A4.
ARH headers w/oryp
Magnaflow quad tip catback, no cut out.
ASP pulley
EPS 226/230 114+3
Comp trunion kit
3600 Vig
Bogarts with MT drag radials
3.42 gears
Race weight ~3525-3550

Track was really crowded and I only got 3 runs in. First run I spun which didn't happen when the car was bolt on, it basically dead hooked before. Aired the tires down and did a bigger burnout and ran 11.94 @ 112.98 with a 1.66 60'. Third run I lowered the air pressure again and ran 11.83 @ 113.55 with a 1.62 60'. I think the car would have run 11.7x if I got another run in, but after waiting 1-1/2 hours in the staging lanes for my third pass I was done for the night.

Suspension mods are UMI control arms and bolt in sub frames. My buddy Larry did the tuning. I'm happy with the car. It drives like stock, has cold A/C. The good fall weather is almost here and I expect to knock a few tenths off my ET. Will post a time slip later.

What was the DA? I would expect you to trap a little higher.

Not sure, the temperature was in the 50's. Bolt on the car trapped about the same as yours with a best of 112+ mph on a really good DA day.

WTG, Bruce !! I was wondering when you were going to let'er rip again. You and I both know it will get faster once everything really settles in together.

Yea I have a couple of other things to do before the good weather comes. I should be able knock a few tenths off that time. When are you heading back to MIR?

Well ,the plan was to get everybody together again this month, but I had a few set-backs myself ( I had gotten sick). Be on the lookout for mid- October. I should be back on my feet by then . I haven't made any changes since the last time. So hopefully the cooler temps could be a big help for all of us.

The trap seems ok to me considering the stock ls6 intake. Is your TB ported? If you get the chance, I would upgrade to a ported fast intake with throttle body and then get the car retuned. I'm betting you gain a solid 2mph in trap and drop at least .2 off your ET.

But 11.8 is pretty good for your setup. Grats on the 11's and good luck in the cooler fall air!

Thanks. Still have the stock unported TB and MAF w/screen. Front sway bar on and hooked up. Injectors are maxed out. I have a set of 36 lb injectors to put in. I have to experiment with the launch, but need more than the 3 passes I got the other night to figure it out. I'm confident the car will run 11.6X later this fall pretty much the way it sits now.

Nice run, I'm hoping to get in the 11's in a couple weeks at the 1/4 mile track as well!

I see no reason why you can't run 11.5s when the really good air gets here. I had the opportunity to drive a vette with that cam, and even with stock gears, it pulls hard upstairs. It has a great idle also. I wish I had gone that route.

I'm finally figuring out my combination and how to launch with the new clutch. I can't wait for that negative da to get here.

That is a strong pass. I am eyeballing a very similar cam for my car right now (226/234 on 111 +2). Good to see that cam making strong numbers.

330 - 4.77

How do you like the EPS cam? Mine is waiting install/tune money as we speak. Im running intake/headers/catback and will only be adding the cam to that.

I like it alot. My buddie Larry did a great job tuning the car, it drives like stock. I didn't want a huge cam. The combination of this cam, 3.42 gears and a 3600 Vig makes a real nice setup that drives great on the street and runs pretty good at the track as well. I can't wait for the good air to get here. Might be able to knock a couple of tenths off my best, we'll see.

I had the opportunity to drive a vette that was running that same cam. It felt far more docile on the street than my t2 but it pulled real hard up top. I think you made a great choice Bruce.

here is to praying. what lift is yours? Mine is the 598 609 lift with a 113+2 or 112+2 LSA... Some lope but nothing redic. Independant rear and weak rear and 60lb flywheel would make me MUCH slower in the 1/4 mile... Also no slicks.

Were any of yall at the OC cruisin?

I have the same cam and have hit 117MPH traps lately with it at Cecil. Where is the car shifting at WOT? I have found 6500 is where the car traps the best.

This cam also LOVES heads on an LS1...

Not to thread hijack but I have 243's should I send them off to advanced induction? I would rather do this now than take them off again!

Yes. Make sure you get injectors and have them milled too.

Great! I am not sure. I weigh 180 pounds. I run with jack and spare in the car but I have mods that took some weight off(Strano bar,Bumper support,PHB,MAF,UMI PHB,V6 front sway bar) on an already light car(B4C that has no cd changer or trunk mounted speakers) at a fast MPH track(I am usually 2-3 MPH faster at Cecil than everywhere else). Like wayfast I am adding AI 243 heads and Gran Prix injectors soon along with light weight rotors,UMI k member, light weight battery and light rear bumper support. We will see what happens. I bet at Cecil right now you could hit 116 MPH easy in good air.

Went to a track rental at MIR today. It was cloudy and cold. No changes to the car. Ran a new best.

60' - 1.58 <----- New best
1/8 - 7.40 <------New best
1/8 mph - 91.23
1/4 - 11.71 <-----New best
1/4 mph 114.32

This was my first pass. I'm happy with the 60'. Control arms are the only suspension mod. Bad news is my posi unit is toast. After my second pass the car was doing the infamous 1 tire burnout. I called it a day and drove home. Hope to get the posi sorted out before the end of the season to hit my goal of 11.60's for the car. I might swap the 3.42's and go with 3.73's, I'm not sure how much I would pick up though.

Trap speed can be effected more by raceweight,DA,trans, gears. I trap 117 mph with a hotcam :jest: My new EPS cam should be going in soon 234/246 should pick up some MPH.
