Default ? about Ram Air Hood

I have a Ram Air hood on my 98 TA and there are metal pieces behind the screen on the Ram Air part. There is also one in the back. They are popriveted on there. Are they supposed to be there? It doesn't really seem ram air with those there, but what do I know.

You can drill the rivits out and take the plastic walls out. I did. But you might want to fab a piece of metal to fit in on the back opening so you can add it when it rains. You dont want water on your maf.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know what they were called or I would have looked them up instead of making a dup. thread. As for the Seal Kit to seal the hood to the intake, do I just make one with weather striping material or is there a kit out there that is nicer?

That's because it ISN'T ram-air. Just like these cars don't have 20 extra horsepower than the regular T/A/Firebirds. The hoods on these cars claim to have ram-air but as you can see they really don't; aftermarket kits are around to make it so, as others have mentioned.
