Default Timing Chain broke today, any guesses?

car was out for tuning because of new converter, was in second gear, pulling at about 5000rpm attempting to make it shift to 3rd (testing 3/4 clutches) and pop! i was not in car, just what builder/tuner told me. timing chain has about 47,000 miles on it....hell my old one had 118,000 with cam and converter and no issues!! Anyways, 9 bent valves on my afr225's, (6 exhaust, 3 intake). what do i need to do as far as timing chain is concerned? ls2 chain? double? stock GM?

Dual chains require shimming of oil pump and grinding on front cover for
clearance. Ls2 is a stout piece for most apps.

I'm running that pulley and replaced my timing chain ~90k ... chain looked great when I took it off but was in there for other reasons so just replaced it while there ... LS2 auto. Sounds like just a ls1 chain and bad luck to me.

The only ones I can recall off the top of my head have been on Corvettes though, not F-bodies.

Be willing to wager you have cracked pistons. Time to pull the heads or scope the cyl. When they go **** breaks. Not just the push rods.

LS2 at a minimum.

He only has to grind if he is running a melling high volume pump. Anything else should fit ok with the double roller.

The LS2 set should work out great for your setup.
