Default 422 dyno results within

Driving to the dyno, the torque arm broke...I swear.. never a dull moment, but we had the trailor right behind us so it was really no problem, arrived at JD's fixed the torque arm and went straight on to the dyno.

Bum 02 sensor bank 1, that was the bank of the leaking Cometic head gasket that was just replaced but pulled it anyway.

Clairification: MRWS6 has a Thunder Racing 236 cam, I noticed in his one post he said it was a 238. And his ASP pulley is still on back order at Thunder Racing so we dynoed with the stock one with the full acc belt.

461 RWH @ 5,200RPM 486 RWT @ 4,500RPM SAE basically, again, the cam is too small looking at the RPM of the peak HP, I think a 242+ would bring that peak over to at least 6,000 RPM so there is more room to gain some more in the HP dept. SAE correction was 0.97 and the actual numbers were 476/503. What I found interesting was at 3,000 - 3,200 rpm, it's over 450 RWT! BTW, the MAF is pegged! it won't read anymore airflow passed the torque peak, it's maxed out, I am addressing that problem this week.

Thats tested through a 12 bolt Moser, 3.73 gears, now I am going to re-formulate a cam size and install the progressive 200 shot of NOS and re-tune.

Chris is going to post the dyno sheet here when he gets home.

Thanks Chris!

Joe.

Y2K, it's the stock MAF, basically, the GPS just stop and flounder at around 4,500 rpm or there abouts and turns wicked rich (black smoke) right before the end of the sample, An oversized higher volume re-callibrated MAF is in order or maybey this MAF is just bad? I will look over the recorded data from the dyno session pulls and post what I see.

Joe.

Nice numbers Joe.

I'm interested in seeing how you correct the maxed out MAF. Someone has to find a cheaper way then going with a FAST system.

Okay, We looked over the A-Tapp loggs and it looks more as if the injector constants have to be worked over a little more, but the MAF GPS was at 450 from 5,000 rpm just about to the end, should be a simple adjustment and a set of ported ends. I am going to get this problem "in check" before I change anything in the combo.

You can then over scale the injectors a bit and reduce the MAF readings a bit (gms per Hz). Don't go to wild on an A4 with this (effects load) and you may have to re-tweak the timing.

What were the wideband readings when you started getting the black smoke?

Good luck! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Thanks for that insight Ragtop, The black smoke started just about at 4,600 - 5000 or so right to the end as you may see in the video, I don't have the wide band print out in fron of me and we were only referencing 1 02 sensor on A-Tap because the one bank lunched out from coolant, If memory serves, the WB went in the dirt about where I mentioned the RPM/MAF problem started. Brien mentioned to me that the 30lbs SVO injectors can act and are actually a little higher than advertised, so that may be the problem? Just a matter of tunning from here.

Nice Numbers Joe. That seems like a tiny cam compared to what else is out there. How is the overall street manner of the car? I rode in a 382 stroker and it was smooth as stock compared to my car. I miss that smooth easy going idle. Maybe a bump up in cubes will help that. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> Any update on my car. How are we looking for the 10th or 15th? Shoot me an email with some info if u get a chance. Good Luck with your new setup. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

All that money thrown into the car, should definately have an 85mm MAF...from his mods its a ported stock MAF. Also the car is an M6, not an A4 as ragtop says, so I dont think you have to worry about the load. I guess the dyno numbers look like an A4 because the HP curve doesnt reach full potential, with the problems around 5k rpm.

Should be able to go with at least 242 cam, I would think.

Keep us posted!

PS Joe, my injectors are in the box on the passenger seat...any progress yet?

I just wanted to check in here, I am going to post the dyno sheet and the video clips tomorow for everyone to see and hear. Joe and I are going to deal with the larger cam issue and work on the progressive 200 shot within the next month aswell. I am very pleased for this being the first dyno pull ever on this car and setup. Thanks joe for the great work and will touch base again tomorow!

What MAF is on the car?

You shouldn't be maxing it out yet, unless you've got an untweaked 85mm on there.

Joe -- also if you want, you can borrow the descreened 85mm SLP MAF with translator off of my car for the dyno to see if that works for him.

I am working on the video now, things should get interesting once we get the MAF problem solved and go with a larger cam. Not for gettin the 200 shot....thing should get interesting <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
