304 is a better grade of stainless steel if thats what you ar easking. 409 is still prone to rust and deteriorate.

409 will need to be coated, 304 doesn't. All in all 304 is a better grade of metal.

Not over the 304 alone. Coating provides more benefit around exhaust temps and engine bay temps than it is over durability. 304 by itself is durable.
