Use oil temp guage for Trans temp guage??

Use oil temp guage for Trans temp guage?? Hey guys, the guy I purchased the car from had a three guage pod in it.. One of the guages is an oil temp guage (electric).. It is plumbed in right above the oil filter, I was wondering if I could use this guage for my trans temp since I added the stall.. I could take the 1/8 plug out of the pressure port on the transmission and put the sending unit there.. I dont see why it wouldnt work but thought I would ask first before trying it.. I know the reading wont be completely correct and will show a little hotter than the fluid actually is..
