Transmission screwed?

Transmission screwed? Yesterday I went into 1st gear when I shouldn't have. Now 1st gear just slides out. Every other gear works fine? Did I screw up the syncros or something deeper in the transmission? Is my transmission screwed? Is it worth it to fix it or get it fixed?

Soon as I release the clutch the shifter comes right out. No real popping like before. It simply won't stay in or maybe its not even going in. I have a pro 5 shifter and I tried adjusting it, but no luck. I may have to totally take it out and reinstall. I bought the car with it on.
