Default D1SC auto guys, what stall are you running? Heres my situation after baseline passes

So heres the skinny on the car. Basically a stock 02 Z28 A4 w/3.23s, just added:

- LTs full exhaust
- D1sc kit @ 7lbs
- 60# mototron
- 255walbro w hotwire
- ati damper

The car put down 476 on a mustang dyno, but at the track I just couldn't get it get better than a 1.99 60ft, stock converter was just bogging it comig out at like 2300. I could not spin my drags after heating them up so that wasn't it. The car cut 1.80s before the blower with 170 less rwhp, all else the same. I know after about 230-240 passes the trans and converter are mush, so time to stall it out. I like my friends 3600, drives nice though I am not sure which brand it is. Is that too much stall or just right for this setup?

Yes, will be adding subframes, and rear suspension too at the same time, no worries there.

Well since the car isn't cammed and you have a 3.23 gear, I wouldn't go with a 3600. You can and it will drive nicely, but you could do a 3200-3400 and be just as happy I think.

Talk to Greg@FTI he is a sponsor here on the board. Every converter he builds is custom spec'd and custom built around your application and parts on your car. Not something he built 4 months ago that is generic he can pull off the shelf and say "this should work ok", will it work, yes, but not as good as it could.

Best thing is his prices are comparable to off the shelf converters that other companies use and say its custom for your application.

I can't wait to put an auto in my car lol. I would see what a couple other blown auto cars say first. Not sure how different a turbo car is from a procharged car. I think hes right though...I think you should talk to FTI and see what they think. Deshmitte had a blown auto car...I'd ask him.

I like my auto a lot. Just keep the fluid cool and they can live a long time when built right.

Running a P1SC-1 at 6lbs with 3.42 gear and Yank SS3600 I get 1.68 60' at full weight. I think I can better that next time out as I was getting burst knock on the launch killing my timing advance.

I have ran a Yank SS3600 on a couple Procharged setups in the 600rwhp area with good results. We should be testing a D1SC car with an SS3600 Sunday that made 625 rwhp on a MD. H/C setup

I think the SS3600 would work very well for your combo or even if you added heads/cam later.

I would suggest the PY series in higher HP setups making 650+.

If your going to go Yank(dunno why you want an off the shelf converter) get a PY3400.

I am not bashing Yank at all, they make a fine fine product, I am just extremely satisfied with my FTI converter and I know all the people I talk to that have one are just as happy as I am. Also Greg is an awesome guy to bullshit with and he is a real racer that spends multiple hours each day making sure every converter is spec'd out completely custom to your needs all the while being comparable in price to an off the shelf PY from yank.

I'm not against FTI, Circle D or others, but have no 1st hand experience either.

I always work with Dave at Yank and give specifics on a combo when ordering a converter.. unless a simple cam, bolt-on car. The converters typically take 7-10 days to ship, so it's not an off the shelf piece in any of my cases.

I had a triple disc Vig/PI 3200 on mine, 1.3 60's off the footbrake, I had grew luck with it. Then I went to a custom Yank and the car just acted weird on that converter, probably needed some more tuning, but I liked the Vig a ton better.
