Great forum. Really. Great resource that has helped my during my rebuild.

But what the hell guys?! It's a message board! No matter what computer I'm on this forum hangs or takes a while to load when trying to view the index/forums.

I was going to contribute some $$ but not if I'm going to get frustrated every time I try to get on.

Need more information.

Would this happen to be where you see the top section (LS1Tech logo and navigation bar) load but everything below that isn't loaded until X seconds later?

If so, when did this start and how long of a delay is occurring? What browser are you using?

I have never had a problem with the forum being slow. I'd check out your internet connection(s) first.

That's exactly what's happening. I'll see everything uptop and a then it takes about a minute or more to load the forum index.

This happens with IE8 (WinXP), IE9(WinUltimate), and Firefox. All my rigs at home are hardwired to the internet. The one's outside of home, some are wifi, some are hardwired.

But today around 6pm EST it was hanging bigtime. Took about 2 minutes for the forum to appear.

I too am having this problem. Just like the OP, I am using IE8. No problems with my connection either.

I've been seeing this for a while now (maybe 1-2 weeks or so?). I figured it was just a bug that would be fixed shortly.

Mine's fast most of the time but every once in awhile it shows just text. Usually fixes it once I reload it.

I'm in the same boat. I know for a fact it's not my internet because it can handle playing halo pretty smoothly. If you play halo then you know that it sucks some massive bandwidth. I think the speed of the site has to do with how many people are trying to connect to it at once.

My only problem is sometimes i have to hit reload a few times to get the pages to load, but when it loads its plenty fast.

this is still a problem top of the page loads then it takes forever for the rest to load I never have this on the other 2 forums I belong to and I can watch streaming HD video so I'd say my internet conection is plenty fast and so is my computer intel I3, 4gb of ram... this is my only complaint of this site.

IE8 loads everything slow. Get chrome or opera. That will help

I know for a fact though your computer shouldnt be the problem. I would try a new browser first off.

Sounds like you have modified Chrome. I would suggest disabling the extensions/add-ons and trying again. I don't have any issue with Chrome or Firefox and it doesn't appear that others are at this time. Thus it sounds like a local issue with your setup.

The only issue I've had recently is an error about the connection to the server being reset and I have to wait a min before I can open the page again. Only happens on occasion, but it is annoying. Has happened both at home, at work, and at my parents' place when I visited them over the weekend, on 3 different computers.

It doesn't happen a lot, just occasionally.

Speed has seemed to be fine typically.

I have been having slower than normal loading times as well. they have been acting up the last couple weeks. I have used several differnet computers, none of them slow, but the 2 that i use the most, one is a core i5 with 8gb ram and the other is a intel quad core 2.66ghz with 8gb ram. They are both hardwired and both use IE9. Is there a setting that i can turn on or off that i am missing to help load faster? The top of the page always loads fast but the buttom where the text should be is what hangs for me causing me to refresh the page to get it to load.

thanks
anthony

I wonder if you guys need to clear your cookies/cache and try a hard refresh: ctrl+F5.
Also, if your browser is clearing history/cookies when you close, this could eat up some time as all the images on the site load.

Good call. I cleared the cookies and the site is loading much faster.

thank you

There was a DDoS on the network this morning/afternoon which could have impacted site performance.

Whats a DDoS? Just curious.

Distributed Denial of Service attack. Basically a ton of incessant hammering the site with gobs of data to overload the servers and crash them. Usually done by people who have no life and hate the world.
