I just recently got a 08 GT with sport package. I have previously owned a T/A and z06. I dont know if my expectations were to high or if I am doing something wrong.
I can not seem to get the car to kick the ass out and slide when turning from a stop. I know this car should have enough power to do this, so my question is what is up? Is this an issue with the traction control, Is it like my zo6 and off isnt really off and you had to hold the button down until it said "competitive driving". I have tried holding it down in the GT with no response, I have tried hitting more that once. I just dont understand why the car will not break loose and slide. :(

When you turn it off does the dash display have the ESP off message? It should.

stock the car is kinda lazy. but u should be able to do a power slide. once u hit the button and it says on the dic esp off. then you are good to go. now add a cam and supporting boltons and u will be in for one hell.of a ride

I bought my G8 GT about 2 weeks ago and it is completely stock. It has new tires so I don't want to shred them, hoping they can last thru the winter. With that said, even partial throttle from a stop and I can hear the tires wanting to cut loose, and I'm at high elevation which means I'm losing 25-35% power due to altitude. This is with traction control on....
Something doesn't sound right....

LOL...You have a GXP:hump:
Ok. Well the traction control is definitely off. I am trying to slide the ass the same way I did in my T/A and Z06 but no dice. There is nothing wrong with the car as far as I cant tell. It pulls nice through the gears at WOT. I just dont get it. Has anyone else had this problem with a stock GT?
I will definitely be getting a tune soon. I hope that will remedy the problem.

They actually have great traction stock without too many mods. I've been able to cut 2.0x 60' times at the track with mine consistently. I have a CAI tune, ported intake now and have no problem doing a burnout or sliding it out. Try powerbraking a little bit stock that should work

I've got a g8 gxp it's stock and won't break'em loose. It has new tires on it which i'm sure helps traction but the stock converter is so tight it starts moving before it ever really starts making good torque I'm looking at getting a higher stall converter. I'm sure tuning some of the factory torque management out would help.

Try it in the rain and report back.:D
I have to be very gentle with my throttle in the rain or it slides out with the slightest of throttle input. White lines in the road are especially slick.
