Default What happens when you run a 4 inch combustion chamber on a 3.9 inch bore?

I am just curious as to how running a larger chamber head on a bore effects the motor?

I guess its a little late for me to ask b/c I have been running a 4 inch TFS head on my 383 for a while now. I was told I would just loose low end torque in return for high end HP, which is fine.

The only reason I am interested in this is because I am probably going to pull the heads to lighten up the valvetrain.

If there is significant lower gains to be had I may switch to a TFS 215

Thanks,
Matt

Consider all the engines that GM puts the LS3 heads on with a 4.0" bore such as the L76. So long as you run the larger bore head gasket and select the proper camshaft for the combo you should not have any losses in torque!
