Default So lost! My shim measurements are backwards....whats wrong!!??

Trying to install a spec stage 3+ in my car. Got a A distance (bellhousing to fingers) of 2.070 with a B distance (tob w/o spring to tranny case) of 2.265. This means my clutch will be preloaded .195 right? which will lead to slippage and eventually failure? am i wrong or what is up bc ive rechecked all my distances and made sure everthing was torque correctly?
Thanks

Did you take your measurements with the spring removed from the slave or the slave compressed?

Is the clutch brand new or "slightly" used. Also, do you have a shim behind the slave cylinder?

Measurements taken with the spring off and the clutch is slightly used but spec said it was still within factory specs and I checked behind the slave and there is no shim

Also, open the bleeder and then push down the t/o to make sure it is going all the way down.

You definitely do NOT want it to be pre-loaded. I recommend 0.080 minimum clearance, with the max being 0.120in.

What is the stack height of the clutch? This is measured from the crank-mounting surface (on the back of the flywheel) to the diaphragm finger peak (with the disc in place and everything torqued accordingly. Let me know as this will provide great insite relative to the clutch geometry. Additionally, you reference that we said the parts were within spec. Do you have an RMA# for this so I can see what was listed relative to the parts?

My stack height is 3.140 and the only number i found was on the back of the flywheel and it was sc75a.

well thanks to the help and knowledge from jeremy at spec, we were able to figure out that my slave cylinder had failed and my throw out bearing was not fully compressing. leading to the wrong measurements. big thanks to jeremy at spec and if anyone has any clutch problems, i highly suggest you contact him before any one else!!!
