Default AT&t and T-Mobile not merging +iPhone 4 fail

So I went to a t-mobile store to see what this 49.99 plan is all about. It cost more than you would expect cause there no phone discounts so they prorate it into a 20 month plan. The manager explained to me that the at&t merge ain't gonna happen cause it would be a monopoly on the gsm/CDMA sim card network. And finally Att launches a 4glte network and the current generation iPhone is not 4g compatible.

what if you already have a phone?... i considered changing to this plan but i would be charged a $150 cancellation fee but i'm paying about $30 more a month anyway so in 5 months it would pay for itself... i also noticed on the data they give you 2gb at 4g speed and after that its slower... i have unlimited 4g data on my plan and i use it quite a bit and its still less than 2gb a month so i should be ok there

If that's the only penalty then I would do it. IMO if someone's using more than 2gigs u must travel/work on the road or don't have much free time at home. I don't see how they wouldn't activate it either.

i'm still debating it... once i heard they were merging with at&t i figured this was a way to get people to switch over and then they would screw you lol... i would be paying atleast $20 more for my current plan at at&t... i've been with tmobile for about 10 years since they were voicestream but if they do merge with at&t and try to jack me around i'll leave with a quickness

i haven't really had any problems with them... the only drawback in the past that i can think of was their lack of phones, which they seem to be stepping up now so it's not as big of a deal, unless you're attached by the butt to iphones like some people are

You believed that the merger was off based on what someone at a retail location told you?

They say the plan is a 20 month pro-rated setup on the commercial. It's in that small "fine print" talk they say towards the end that's really fast.
