Default '10 Mustang GT vs '07 Grand Prix GXP

Well I left work early yesterday due to the crud that I caught from my kids and I was on my way to the drug store to pick up some...well.....drugs. So I'm sitting at the red light behind a 2010 Mustang GT waiting patiently for the light to turn green. As I'm waiting I could see this young kid's entire face in his rearview mirror eying me. I rarely get an opportunity to get some action so I will not let this one get away.

So the light turns green and he takes off like a bat out of hell and I follow. We get on the freeway with me behind him and he never slows down to let me get even. He just keeps the hammer down. He had about 2 cars on me at about 60...by 70 I stop his pull and start reeling him in...by 100 my fender is at his qtr panel and by 120 I have 2 cars on him.

I had to brake hard as traffic was coming up and this douche passes the traffic on the shoulder....so I guess he won?? Idiot...but it was a thrill...thought those cars were much faster. Think it was an auto didn’t look like he was yanking any gears...stock I'm sure...still had the paper plates and was very quiet. Chalk one up for the sideways V8!

Sure it was the GT and not the V6? The V6 does have 300+ HP. The new 5.0's are pretty fast in stock form. With a tune and a few bolt ons they're in the high 11's.

The Grand Prix is 300+ HP also. And it was a GT. And the 2010 is a 4.6, not a 5.0.

Oh I see what you're saying the 2011 V6 and the 2010 GT could be confused....but this was a 2010....it had the GT emblems.

I dont see you pulling on him from 2 cars down to 2 cars up from 60-120. The guy wasnt racing you, period.

I think if it was the v6 you would have killed it for sure. The gt has 315hp and 325tq, the V6 300hp 280tq.
Heres a vid of V6 vs 4.6 gt http://youtu.be/DTvs2z9nCPQ

Yeah I don't get how you are two cars back then two cars ahead. He could have missed a shift or something though

Nice run on an apparent douche op!

69- I saw that one before, good vid! Just wondering, was one a stick and one with the slush box? What would happen if they both ran to top speed (or whatever the governor is set at on the slowest of the two)? Seems like they shut down while the GT was ahead, and one obviously had a passenger (the GT).

Maybe he pulled out of it after I caught him...he was definitely still in it when we were door to door. A stock 2v or 3v is a dog, especially from a roll. I've never had one beat me. (From a dig or roll, track or street) Don't get what's so hard to believe about that.

GK op. your car runs strong. totally believable. that motor runs strong with just a few mods.

cars weigh similar and you have more power.

i will say he probably hit overdrive at 100mph and was an auto.

That's what I think made the difference. I can run up to 102 in second and can top out in 3rd in tap shift.

Thinking maybe was a V6..That 2 cars in 20mph woudl show you have a lot more power t hen him. Oh well Good Kill.

Also the 2011 V6 has went 13.7 best for stock. The 2010 GT went like 13.4 stock with the track pack.

those times are those rare runs made by a pro driver on a prepped track with no line until they get a great run to brag about.

you wont see a lot of v6 in th 13s much less low 13 gt's driven by the avg person u see at the strip.

I know anything can happen on the street but for me its hard to believe for a couple reasons.

I raced several 2010 GTs in my bone stock down to the filter auto LS1 TA and was up by 2 cars at 120.

I have also ran a GP GXP with my 3.4 pullied GTP and would barely edge it out to 100 and my TA would easily put several lengths on the GTP.

I like the GP GXP, I even test drove a few but saying you pulled 4 cars from 60-120 just dont seem right to me. The guy let off maybe when he knew he couldnt rape a 4-door.

Them times are what the owners showed them driving them. Agree though had great track prep and really good DA

One 2011 V6 owner now has the fastest V6 in an 11 sec pass. It has a bolt ons and a procharger pushing like 8psi.

Sometimes it is actual owners that run the best times.

true true......its just that those are some darn good times u quoted and will not be the norm (ie: most if not 95% v6 u see run will be mid 14's.

im not a bit worried about the new v6 stangs from a stop or roll.....and the old GT id out run from a roll in the cobalt.

so its one of those in the streets anything is possible scenarious

Not to put your car down, but he must have been a terrible driver if he didn't beat you.

You couldn't have possibly beaten that car, other people have driven the car you raced to a record time of xx.xx

You must have raced a v6 or the guy wasn't racing. Everyone knows young guys driving a car with paper plates are the real experts.

There are no exceptions to anything.

*end sarcasm*

I miss anything?
