I've had bad luck with aftermarket belts, they squeek brand new as soon as i put them on my car but gm belts are quiet.
Anyone recommends an aftermarket drive belt that doesn't squeek? Dont want to pay the 60 bucks for the belt but i just may.

My Dayco serpentine belt is like 9 years old and it still looks great, never made a sound.

Aftermarket.
Do not buy anything from dealership unless you cannot find anywhere else.

It's not like GM makes their own belts... Dayco... okay, but I'd certainly consider Gates and Goodyear. Either likely costs more than Dayco, but eh... I prefer them.

Just so you all know......the one thing that makes a belt last as long as mine has lasted SO FAR.........is a "fixed tensioner."
The factory tensioner that bounces with a spring......is what stretches out belts and makes them fail WAY WAY before they should. Like mentioned...mine is 9 years old and looks new.....and it hasen't stretched AT ALL, I mean NONE.....my tensioner is still in the exact same position its been set at for the past 9 years.
Check a factory tensioner with a new belt, mark that spot, then check it in a year...it will stretch. That kills belts.
Get a Katech tensioner if you have the money.

Thanks for the info, i guess i go with dayco or gates.
Ls6427,
I do have Katech, I will tighten the belt see if that helps.
What actually happened was a co-worker sprayed my engine with water and some cleaning solution and now my camaros belt squeeks. So i want to replace it (it was on the to do list already).

Cool, make sure the belt is tight to 25 ft. lbs.......I do a little more actually, maybe 28.

I actually tightened the belt and it continued to squeek into the following day. But today no squeeks, so all is good thanks!
