Exclamation JP Timing chain install Question???

I have the cam retainer plate back on but now the cam gear does not seat flush with the cam. Am I suppose to use the retainer plate with this timing set?? Or do I just take the plate off and install the cam gear? It's a JP timing set with a bearing on the back of the cam gear.

okay I figured out the first problem but now when I go to put the timing chain on with the cam gear I can't seem to get it on? I already have the oil pump bolted on do I have to remove the oil pump again to put the chain on?
