Default Mojave Mile October 8-9... Which shoes will they allow?

I'm thinking about going out to the Mojave Mile next weekend... http://mojavemile.com

I've been looking over the rules, and they seem pretty strict!

Can someone shed some light on this for me?

Specifically, I have a question about shoes... here's what the rulebook says for driver class C/basic driver:

"leather topped shoes with no holes... 'athletic shoes are not permitted'

So this means that regular closed-toed shoes with laces won't work?

Do I have to buy special leather driving shoes for this event?

Can someone post a link to a type of shoe that would work?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like work boots would work, with or without steel toes.

I have a number of size 11 and 12s if you need used work boots. Fresh scent is extra.

Summit also carries driving shoes that are fire rated and would work.

I'll be there this weekend with my buddy's turbo Camaro. You can contact the organization directly and clarify the questions you have.

that would be me!

I have NOMEX lined Spearco racing shoes (no leather at all), however the tech inspection was EXTREMELY loose (not strict at all) I bet if you came with some good shoes (not lightweight running shoes) , or like said, a pair of boots, you would be fine. odds are good that they wont even ask to see your shoes

hopefully we see you there! make sure you register soon, they are almost sold out last time i checked, and you MUST pre-register.

p.s., my spearco shoes were $100 at Subie Sports in Huntington Beach. They have a few pair so you can actually try different ones on. I bought all of my safety gear from them, they are great guys.

Cool man, thanks for the info.

I have a mtn bike race in Temecula that day which I signed up for before I knew about this. Unfortunately the last part of the race starts at 3 pm. So there's no way I could make the driver's meeting in Mojave at 8PM saturday night....
