Hey I posted earlier about buying my brothers 2001 SS... turns out it was a 00 not an 01 :( But anyways here are some pics, the paint is pretty shitty and the speakers are blown but I got a hell of a deal on it. I then bought some of my first mods off craigslist. 1) 85mm BBK TB 2) BBK SSI Intake Manifold w/ fuel rails 3) FLP Longtube's 4) Y-pipe with swappable cats 5) BMR Subframe Connectors 6) SLP Lid

Anyways I picked up everything above for $1,100 I'm pretty stoked, can't wait to get them on in the next couple days. I plan on getting a dyno tune in the near future but do you think I'll be okay for maybe 5000 miles driving without one and all the new mods? Thanks for any and all advice.

Also will the stock cat-back be too restrictive? Can I just change out the muffler and tips and make a little custom system that will perform well with the FLP headers and Y-pipe?

Can anyone give me a good estimate of expected rwhp?

You will be good the only time you really would need a dyno tune if you do a cam swap of heads. I just installed a fast 102mm intake manifold, fast 92mm throttle body, Slp cold air induction, And Slp loud month I cat back exhaust...the car didnt have any problem reconizing the after market parts...and the response is amazing FAST!!!! is all I can say...I got a LSA cam 223/231 610intake 617exhaust which is pretty agressive cam, and yank SS3600 stall im waiting to install. Ill get it dyno tuned after the install. My buddy has the same build as me, so were estimating around 410-420rwhp...But defiantly lose the stock exhaust your gonna restrict the motor, I notice a difference after the slp catback and that was the first thing i done

O yeah if you get the slp lid go all out and get the whole package (slp cold air induction kit) the induction system goes in between the radiator and ac...pain in the ass to install but definatly worth the throttle response!

if you want to optimize the parts you are putting on, then yes, get a tune! a mail order tune from frost (like $150) will make the most of your additions. most of the time when headers get put on a car it tends to run rich.

ditch the stock muffler. it will be the cork in your system.

you would probably be ok with just driving around, but you will see a noticeable difference with a tune.
