no the big block will make more power at less cost overall.

ANYTHING 1000hp n/a will cost you a lot of $$$$$. Easy $10k for either small or big block

You want a "budget" 1000hp, build a turbo car

A big block will weigh more than a small block

why do you want a 1000 horse motor? youll never be able to use even half of it on the street..

the car want be race on the street but i have never liked a trailer queen. its going in a streetable back half car> it dont have to be a 1000hp on motor cause it will for sure have some nitrous.

i would get a nelson racing engine, but if i were to build one i would do a TT 408 or something like that.

in my opinion the most budget friendly street build, would be a 5.3 with either a turbo or procharger...

to do this NA will be quite a bit to get a small block up to par, enough to handle a big shot of nitrous... there r several people pushing the limits of the $500 5.3 junkyard motors...

to build an equivalent, lets say 406 sbc and get it to 600+ NA hp, with all the crazy internals/heads/etc. is costly. you will more than likely be paying around 1600 just for the heads... let alone the bottom end, maybe concrete the block, etc...

he wouldn't be posting in the SBC & BBC section if he wanted an LS based motor...geez people

If you are set on a small block chevy, to get 1000hp even with n2o is going to cost you a very pretty penny. So to help you, we need to approximately know what budget is.

My advise to you is go big block. And I mean like a 540 cubic inch big block. Get a set of AFR 335cc heads and make an easy 700+hp n/a and make up the rest with n2o

hmmm. i thought that it would apply, being that i consider a 5.3 or 6.0 a sbc motor
