12 Second Club - 12.6@111mph - Stock 2002 LS1 (high mileage) w/Minimal Bolt-ons

This is only the second time that we've taken (my wife) Natasha's '02 B4C to the track in the 4 years we've had it. The first time out - stock - it ran 13.2@105mph on a peg-leg diff out of a V6 car holding 3.08 gears. Since then it has only had cat deletes added, some mild suspension work, 4.10s w/a posi and tuned by me on crappy 91 octane. All the other drivetrain running gear is stock including the torque converter.
Yesterday it went 12.64 @ 111mph on a 1.9 60' on street tires using a completely stock LS1 long block - less the mods below. The car is a "point and shoot" daily driver - Natasha jumped in it and ran 12.8 @ 110+mph with little trouble.
Also, I should point out we were running around newer 5.0s and a supercharged (6.1) SRT8 Challenger which were using drag radials - all day long. With a converter, sticky tires and a higher rev limit this car might be that bit quicker... but, that would undermine the daily driver practicality of the car.

Man, that's a real good time for what you have done. I usually see a lot of full bolt-on LS1's running about that, very cool.
Question though, "!Cats", does that stand for cat delete or something else?

How can you say it's completely stock, then put a two line mod list???

Anyways, pretty decent times. What kind of tires?

Yes, cat deletes.
How can you say it's completely stock, then put a two line mod list???
1. It got your attention, right? ;)... although I think you are reading into it a bit (updated OP to reduce confusion);
2. The engine (LS1) - long block - itself is BONE stock, no internal work and the valve covers have never been off; and
3. Sumitomo HTR Z IIs.

I've got a completely stock long block too, but I would never call my car stock. Stock is stock, and mods are mods. Just sayin. Still a good run, congrats.

Thanks. Clearly we all have our own interpretations... BTW, your build is nuts - efficient - but nuts. Don't chop it up too much. ;)

Really?! It took me 30 seconds to learn you used headers, a converter, drag radials and weight reduction to get your times; and yet you claim FEWER mods? Yes, we CLEARLY have our own interpretations... LOL.
http://ls1tech.com/forums/15296575-post1.html] Needless to say I'm pretty freakin' happy with these times! The car has lid, paper filter, headers, Rhino79 email tune, 3800 stall, Nitto 555R's, 2.73 gears, and full weight minus back seat and door panels(working on manual window swap) ..I actually had enough tools in the trunk to make the car full weight. I spun a little on every pass, and DA was 2686. I think I have an 11 second bolt-on car in good air.

nice time for those mods i have to agree..the 4.11's are doing most the work on droping those times like that...add a 100 shot and run 11's no prob

The 4.10s are definitely making the most of what is available with the stock motor and associated bolt-ons. Plus they make the car so pleasant to drive daily.

If you must know: Delco GL4 with Delco's posi additive... now my secret to performance is out. :( ;)

Lol looks like you took my post a little too seriously, but since you want to be smart about it, let me teach you how to count..
"SLP Lid|K&N|Free Mods|Fernco|P&P TB|5:1 MAF Screen|TR55s|HPT Pro|!Cats|Cutout|Boxed LCAs+UMI LCA Relo Brkts|Energy Suspension & 1LE Bushings|Edelbrock Adj PHB|Y2K Wagon Wheels|SS Hood|Auburn Posi & GM 4.10s"
1. SLP lid
2. K&N
3. P&P TB
4. TB SS MAF
5. Cutout
6. LCA
7. Relocation brackets
8. Adj PHB
9. 4.10's
10. Tune
Mine:
1. SLP Lid
2. LT's
3. Converter
4. 555R's(useless now)
5. Tune
6. Minor weight reduction + tools & laptop = close to full weight.
So yes, I would say that I have FEWER mods. 10 > 6 the last time I checked. Are my mods more effective in a 1/4 mile race? Yes! Did I say they weren't? No! :)
Again, congrats on your times. Not quite as amazing as you'd like to think they are, but solid times nonetheless.

What the hell are you talking about?! I run 11s with my bolt on camaro and I dont know what im doing. I sleep at the tree :jest:
OP I guess im considered stock as well seeing how a stall has nothing to do with opening the motor!

1. SLP lid
2. K&N - performance benefit = 1hp?
3. P&P TB - did it myself in the garage must be worth 50hp.
4. TB SS MAF - where the fuck did you come up with this one? It has a 5:1 MAF screen. Look it up.
5. Cutout - behind the stock Y-pipe in the stock I-pipe makes - it makes lots of noise.
6. LCA - the stock ones (150k+ miles) with some plate welded to the bottom no benefit to power.
7. Relocation brackets - yes, set on the upper hole to restore the factory roll/instant centre for Auto-X.
8. Adj PHB - I can only imagine the performance benefits of re-centring the axle under the car?
9. 4.10's
10. Tune - yep, did it myself.
11. Major weight addition - Wife's purse (has to weigh 100lbs), her helmet, our day luggage, camera equipment, the laptop w/HP Tuners, a stuffed toy (a small pink pig), cleaning supplies and 10 microfibre towels, the GPS, power inverter, floor mats, license plate frame, 30 CDs, set of small screw drivers, garage door opener, and a half pack of gum = over full weight.
Mine:
1. SLP Lid
2. LT's
3. Converter
4. 555R's(useless now)
5. Tune
6. Minor weight reduction + tools & laptop = close to full weight.

It is fantastic to see that you can count to ten. Now allow me to apply some weight to your simple equation because either you are trolling or stupid...
Here's why (focusing on the critical ones - the rest being equal even if you pulled your seats):
1. Headers, even eBay ones, will trump stock manifolds and cat deletes;
2. 3800 stall vs. 1800 stock (I can't believe you are seriously comparing this); and
3. Drag radials vs. the cheapest Z-rated tires money can buy (again: come on!).
4. 4.10 vs 2.73 Gears. Yes, I win this one. Hooray! 4.10s trump all.
My 10 shitbird mods don't add up to the potential of the 6 you listed as you've already stated - which is why I am curious as to why you opened your mouth in the first place? Maybe you should have counted my 8 spark plugs as well? And no, your mods aren't "more effective" in a 1/4 mile race; because if they were you'd be quicker/faster - but you aren't. Either you need to find a better tuner or to modify the driver. My money is on the driver who blames his equipment (read: claiming "worn out" tires).
Also, if you were in my Platoon I would make you carry the radio, but without the batteries. Something about you tells me that you would find a way to hold a conversation without them - or at least bullshit me into believing that the radio is working. Or maybe it was the metal plate in your head that was picking up the frequency allowing us to talk to 0?

Well for comparison, a friend of mine went 12.4 with full exhaust and a lid, nothing else, and no tune. Although that was a six speed.

Sure. Why not?
I am pretty certain that the performance this car is showing is spot on, if not better than, what can be expected for the work done. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong... but, PROVE it.

using regular (omfg is he using dino oil?? wtfls1bbqlq4dtfls9ftmfw) valvoline 5w30, the same gear oil that came in the car from 1998, same trans fluid that came in the car from 1998, well basically everything gm installed except a whisper lid, weld in flowmaster muffler, and eibach sportline springs...my 99 m6 ta went 8.29 @ 87.99 in the 1/8 on a 1.96 60'. full weight, da of 2250'. what was your 1/8 et and mph? that is 3 total mods, one of which we all know didn't help the car in any way shape or form...well maybe 2 if you're a flowmaster hater. this was on kdw s tires. they have a treadwear rating of 400 haha.
