Default Reusing ring and pinion?

Ok, I brusted my differential at the track the other night. I've got another diff laying around that I can put in it. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be putting a 12 bolt in the car over the winter so I just need to put the 10 bolt back together for now. What would be the problems if I reused the ring and pinion that's in the car now? The gears are still nice and quiet so I'm pretty sure I didn't hurt them.

Only way is to measure your backlash, pinion pre load and total turning torque, as well as check your gear pattern. Then remove the gears and install them to the exact specs they were removed at.

If you previously broke the posi-unit and the gear/pinion were unscathed, then by all means, reuse them.

This would be correct IF you made those measurements before you removed the old ring and pinion that you want to re-install. Measuring what's in there now won't help.

I'm not even planning on taking the pinion gear out. We're pulling the differential, swapping the ring gear over to the new diff and reinstalling it the same way it came out.
