Default Completed my cam swap today!

After much debate on which cam to upgrade to I went with a Vengeance VRX4 to supplement my Livernois ported 243's.

The original setup was
Livernois 243 castings
218/212 cam
Comp 1.82 rockers
Pnp throttle body
LS6 intake
Lid

Ended up with a vengeance Vrx4 (228/230 590ish lift)

Also, by much recommendation from EVERYONE I talked to I bought some brand new GM factory rockers and took the 1.82's off... Hated doing that since they look so good! Haha

Hopefully will have it tuned by G.R.E.A.D. Tuning by next week.

Just wishing to see 400hp through my built A4 and 3400 stall

The whole swap start to cleanup took about 8 hr total all by myself. Not too shabby for my first ever cam install on an LS1.

It's not really bad at all, just time consuming and tedious.

Yes I'd like to. You will have to get new bolts and the perch for them from comp tho. I will have no use for them anymore so shoot me an offer if you want them and I can get ya pics.

I will know for sure by Wednesday evening! Setup my tuning appointment today!!! Can't wait to get it running good and proper!

In the mean time, I've got a pic of the car and an untuned idle vid...

Your build sounds a lot like the one I'm getting ready to do. I've got an A4 vert Z28 with 3.23's, and am collecting parts right now. How did you like the little 218 cam? Which converter are you using? Good luck with the bigger cam .

3400 stall and currently on 2.73's

The 218 cam was great as it was. With a **** tune even it was pretty much driving a stock car. It barely had any lope at idle( my exhaust kills the sound) and was soo easy to street around.

This cam surges a bit more noticeably but still drives just fine on the garbage tune it's on. I'd have left the 218 but I figured if I could swap a cam for a few hundred I may as well go a bit bigger.

Thanks for the compliments fellas! The cam is ground with a 112 LSA.

Only thing I really need to get squared away is the pushrod length. Has Comp 7.4's in it now (what was in it with my 218 cam) but I really need to remeasure to get them exact.

Results tomorrow.

Got her finished. Have a vid that may be decent and a pic on the dyno to upload in a bit!

The guys at GREAD tuning were super nice and really accommodated me and my schedule well! First dyno run was a shade under 350hp and the final ended up being 378.5hp 366.5tq on a mustang dyno. Not sure what that translates to on a dynojet but I don't really care honestly. Car idles and drives better, and is absolutely faster and smoother overall. Charles also changed my regular driving shift points etc and it's a ton better overall!

I'm glad to have the peace of mind knowing that everything is where it should be and I'm tuned right now...

I'm still going to get a cutout on it which will free up a good bit of power I think and let the cam sound out haha. The magnaflow sounds awesome at WOT but really muffles and blends the sound at idle...

Nice, pushing 380rwhp through an auto on a mustang dyno. Your probably at 400rwh on a dyno jet. All that really doesn't matter thought it's how fast it goes down the road or the track! Looks like a fun car man good job!

Yeah I have to agree. And thanks for the compliments!

The numbers game is definitely fun and a great way to compare mods, but I'm more of a "let's see what happens on the street" type of guy. I'm hoping beech bend 1/4 mile track has another TNT day so I can make a couple passes and see what happens.

Hell, with my 2.73's I may only need to run through 2nd gear haha. It will almost touch 110 before hitting 3rd lol.

Drove the car about 65 miles today. Ran very well and I'm real happy with the drivability.

Drives great! Surges a bit at low speed and low rpm but only enough for me to think "hey, I've got a decent sized cam". Has a huge amount of useful power to get around on the streets. It's no stop light racer bc just stretching it's legs a bit will get you to 100... Kinda hard to get used to the fact that it will be going almost 110 and never made it to 3rd.

It idles much smoother now after the tune as well. It will hold rpm just fine once its ran for about a minute.
