Chevrolet Camaro 1967-2002 - 69 Camaro LS swap

I am currently building a 69 camaro with an LS1. I traded for a 2000 model LS1 pullot with a 4l60E. The engine has a mid-range cam, ls6 intake etc. I am planning on pulling the engine apart and rebuilding it. Where is the best place to get a complete rebuild kit for one of these. Also who is the best place to buy a complete swap kit such as headers, mounts, oil pan etc. Also am I better to buy a new harness or rework the one I have and if I need to rework the one I have where may I find the diagram to do so. Will the low mount alternator work on the 69 frame. This is my first LS swap so any help is much needed and very much appreciated. Thanks

LS1 F-body accessories will fit just fine. for swap parts autocraft oil pan, hooker swap heades and speedtech/ATS motor mount adapters.
speartech (i think thats right) can modify your harness.

I have looked at Speratech and thne I read where alot of guys where modding them on their own. I was wondering how complicated this would be or would I better better to just send it to Speartech instead of messing with it.

I dont see why the f body oil pan wouldnt work, its pretty much the smallest one made.
my mechanic is a ls1 swap specialist but I dont think he is a vendor on here, if you pm me I can get you his info.
as far as it goes i would pull about everything I could off the same car if your able too. the harness should be fine. you can get it modified way cheeper than buying a expensive painless or something

I pulled everything I thought I would need from the car. I got engine all accessories, ecm, harness, tranny, everything to make it run. There are plugs that I dont think I will need like ones that go to the headlights and stuff.

Also looking for a EFi system to put on 67 with sbc. I think I am going to convert over to efi just weill be easier to tune with the turbos.

The stock LS oil pan won't work on a first gen.

You will also need to notch the cross member if you want to run the compressor in the stock LS location. The rear steer is part of the problem with stock F-body pan. How many miles on the motor? Did you hear the engine run? I wouldnt rebuild unless it a high miler or its status is unknown. These motors run forever unless abused or neglected. Post some pics along the way. I'm about to put an LS1 in my 68 firebird. Probably will document some it on one of the sites. I'm running stock Fbody pan in my 69 but its has aftermarket subframe and adjustable motor plates.

I did hear the engine run and it was making a noise like a spn bearing. I took oil pan off and it looks like a bolt that was holding the windage tray or what every it is on the pan was flopping on one side against the rod because you can see it on the tray. The rods look fine so that maybe the noise. I post here and at pro-touring, so i will document. I am still a ways off though just trying to gather everything. Where are you documents yours at ss69ls1? What are you going to do about your harness?

I.m at the same stage you are. I have a donor 99 Z28 LS1 with an auto. Going to part out the rest of the car to fund the conversion. I will be following your thread as well to see what you end up with. Good luck.

My 69 was finished last April. I used harness from the pullout modified by speartech. Will probably do the same on the firebird. Not sure, saw a couple places on ebay that cost half as much to modify the harness. I just don't want to get half the quality. The bird is being painted now, should have it back next week. Here's a few pics.
