Default 370 W/CheatR Cam questions

Edit: well I got a good deal on a set of rods and pistons and im going for the ultimate sleeper now! I have 11525 Diamond pistons with Eagle rods. I plan on using the some stock 317 heads w/valve job and slight port work. how do you think this will run with the cheatr cam?

original thread but now doing lq9 370-
I have a 04 Ls1 with a cheatR cam and Fast 78 setup. I was looking to mill a set of 243s I have. These are not the sodium filled ls6 heads. How much can i Mill to raise compression with out getting into Intake fitting or PTV issues.

I would say at least .040 but be careful, you mill them too much you can also run into an intake sealing issue by taking too much off the heads. Also consider pushrod length and I would try to measure PTV to be safe.

I dont want to mill them to the max Im just trying to figure what is best for my setup. My goal is to honestly get roughly 380-400 HP.

Basically
04 Ls1
Stock Ls6 Heads
Fast 78
Ported TB
CheatR Cam

You can always run thinner cometic head gaskets.

milling to 61cc should give you roughly 11.0 CR.
As has been mentioned, you HAVE to re-check you Piston/valve clearance and your pushrod length PERIOD. You might want to consider a good valve job and some decent valve springs if you dont already have some
Consider some exhaust mods or a cutout and you should be nearing 400RW.

No need with stock gaskets, (double period)

ha ha ok. i see you edited your post. just makin sure you knew they were not for a ls1 lol. so do you have a LQ9 shortblock or just the engine block? since your going with a higher compression 370 ci motor i probably would go with a bigger cam than the cheatr. go custom and explain you want a sleeper and whoever specs it can suit it best to your setup.
