Default spectra tank plumbing

I'm trying to figure out what to do about the return line between my spectra tank and my c5 filter. The filter is a 5/16 quick connect and the tank is an old skool carb type flare. The new design russell quick connect goes from 5/16 to -6 an. So how do I go from that to tank? I don't want to use rubber hose and a clamp even though I know there's very little pressure there because I don't want to deal gas permeating the rubber hose. I was thinking nylon (stock type dorman) or teflon (aeroquip) but can't figure out how to deal with the difference in size and the barb. I don't have experience with the plastic lines or teflon. Anyone used a c5 filter after the spectra tank?

A 3/8 fuel hose will clamp onto the return on the tank just fine. My first attemp was more along your thought where I used a 3/8 barb with an adaptor to a 5/16 compression fitting. It wasn't worth the trouble. All in my build thread.
