best throttle body maf setup?
hello i have a 2000 trans am with unmolested ls1 runs absolutly great but i have a few plans for it.. currently it has 241 heads, slp air box, and a flowmaster catback... im gonna throw on a ls6 intake, longtube headers, full true dual exhaust out the back with tips, dyno it after everything is installed. But im also wanting to put on a bigger maf and throttle body with that ls6 intake but idk what sizes to get or whether if putting 300 into just those is gonna make a big difference. Can anyone give some advice if i should do that or get 1 or the other or none at all or port the factory tb. Thanks guys!

LS1 rockers use a 1.7 ratio. you don't want to go lower, that decreases your valve lift. LT1's use lower lifts than our LS1's do. My advice so far would be to start with the stickied threads at the top of the page and do a lot of research if you're new to this engine. I spent months reading everything I could find on this site before I ever even made my first post, lol. Tons of info and probably 98% of your questions could be answered with whats already been posted. Not trying to be a dick, hope this didn't come accross that way. Good luck!

It has the stock rear end the car is 90% stock lol and I got a t56 transmission with a pretty good clutch (only had the car for 3 weeks) so idk what kind of clutch is in it probly stock. I was thinking a 224/228 comp cam, 100mm tsp tb with ls6 intake would be a good start then get headers full true duel exhaust and dyno it when everything is installed should be well over 400rwhp. Anything else u could recommend? and I understand trust me this engine wont screw me over I've worked on them before just haven't modified my own lol THANKS FOR THE REPLIES!

I'm gonna assume you ment 100mm maf sensor. Cam only your not gonna see much difference if any with the bigger sensor. If I were you and I was only shooting for 400 rwhp I would get an LS6, port your stock throttle body, leave the maf alone, get the full exhaust, an underdrive pulley will give you an extra 5 to 8, most full bolt on torquer 2 guys make somewhere around 400rwhp. I've seen low 390s to around 407 maybe. A torquer 2 is a texas speed cam thats very streetable and should put you right at your goal. I would also go with some 4.10 gears. If you track your car your gonna bust the 10 bolt anyway so I would just put them in it, the gear will help you get in your powerband and with the driveability.

Thank you for all the replies the cam is a definate and yes I ment 100mm maf haha I wanna shoot for over 400rwhp but nothing crazy so just get my stock tb ported? Along with the cam, ls6 intake, duels, lt headers, dyno.. Would that be a great setup? I have time til I get the cash to do all this with so it's no rush haha and the underdrive pulley what is a good one one guy said the SLP harmonic was good would that and all my included mods be even better if so noticeable?

SLP is a good pulley. Its the one I'm running. They're another brand that alot of people say is the best but im not sure the name and i think its more expensive. My Slp is trying to rust some but its 4 years old. The pulley isn't gonna be anything you'll notice in the seat of your pants but on a dyno you might see 5 or so. In the end you'll have a good running car with those mods. As far as picking a cam I would call texas speed or any vendor and tell them exactly what you want out of it, if its your daily driver, how much driveabiltiy your willing to give up and they'll set you in the right path. I'm running a MS4 in my Trans am and it doesn't bother me at all but cams do take some getting used to to drive.

02ws sick-ud pulley is worth it. We did a pully swap at the track on a 99z28. The car gained 1.2 tenths with a asp pully. The 60 foot was real close and the car was an a4 with some drag radials. We also did the free mod test back to back at the track and it was worth it too. I had the slp pulley and the asp at the same time. The asp is lighter and i have ran one for many years on n.o.s 1.3 60's and on my 540 n/a hp 402ci with NO issues.
