Default Lids

I have a slp lid on my car and know it does make a difference but I was just wondering... How exactly does a new lid increase hp? What does it do different than stock and how does that help? I just wanna learn all I can!

If you look at the inside of the stock lid there are plastic ridges on it where as the aftermarket lids are smooth which allows air to flow more freely into the engine. Another benefit is that it removes the stock baffles in the engine compartment to give the engine bay a cleaner look. Definitely worth the money and probable one of the best mods for the price for these cars

baffles were there to meet noise requirements but whats funny is some SSs came with SLP lids with no baffles stock.

the baffles are there to reduce under hood noise. Most new cars have some kinda baffle around the intake to make them sound quieter. But yea take a look at the stock lid you will notice the ridges in it.

The horsepower gains of an aftermarket lid come from removal of the air silencers, deletion of the ridges, and smoother transition from the outlet of the lid into the throttle body (stock lid goes from an oval outlet to the silencers, then into a round TB opening; aftermarket lid has a round outlet that carries directly into the TB).

honestly i could hear a little bit of an air rushing sound after my lid install. maybe it was from it not being completely sealed.

I could never tell a difference in sound, only thing I really noticed was a slightly better throttle response :/
