Head lights come on automatically
I dont wan't to sound like an idiot but I had a windshield put in my my new 2000 ss camaro today and I drove the car for the 1st time at night. My headlights come on when I start the car is that normal? I didnt see a time delay switch,. I dont have to turn the headlight switch on. Everything works on the car including fog lights and hazards. I have no owners manual for the car so I couldnt research.

The '98-'02 Camaros came with automatic headlights. There is no switch to turn this feature off, it's standard and it happens any time that the sensor (located on the top of the dash, near the defogger vent) doesn't detect enough light.
If you click your parking brake up at least one notch *before* you turn the key to run, they will not come on (until you release the brake).
You can disable this feature if you want to. Here are instructions on how to do so. Personally, I hate the feature and have disabled it on every Camaro I have owned. This is the best how-to that I have seen for it:

^^^ I actually kind of enjoy the feature, I tend to forget about my lights when it starts getting dark. I killed the battery in my 94 camaro a few times by leaving the headlights on.. It also helps that situation out too lol

I HATE that we have automatic headlights, yea it's convenient but what if I want to do some sneaking around at night, I'll get caught up easy with my lights on lol.
RPM WS6, thanks for the how-to, really didn't think it was possible.
Tip: If you guys just want to stay parked with the car on (ex. making out, banging, smokin', etc.) and hate having the headlights on constantly, pull your e-brake all the way before turning on the car, then when you turn on, the headlights are off
Disregard my tip, RPM WS6 explained it before me lol

If you leave you parking brake up one notch will it hurt to drive it like that? Cause at the drag strip I wanna just run with my halos on but with that brake up a notch wouldn't it slow me down or is the brake not up enough to engage
