Default Is an adjustable panhard neccessary when you lower the car?

I'm going to be lowering my Camaro approximately 1.25-1.5" and was wondering if an adjustable panhard bar is going to be necessary? I have already got a brand new tubular non adjustable one and would hate to have to buy an adjustable.

I've got all non adjustable pieces, panhard, LCA's and relocation brackets ect.. Will I be ok with this much of a drop?

If you are going to run 315s in the back, then you may need one. If you are going to run 275s then you should be ok.

Search bar at the top will tell you yes. You need one. It throws the geometry out of wack and your rear end will not be centered. The adjustable one will re center it and help you run big wheel/tire set ups.

I'm only going to be running a 275/40/17 out back, will I be ok?

How do you know if you end up needing one? Will the wheels stick out or be off center, or will it affect traction or something?

Are you kidding?
No cheap way out yes you need an adjustable panhard & an alignment after lowering the car.
Or you just wasted the money spent just to get an ill handling car.

You will get tire rub usually on the inside of the wheel well with 315s. I had a poly/poly adj. phb and still got rubbing because of the poly flexing under hard cornering. I have sinced replaced that phb with a double rod-ended phb without any rubbing since. You should be ok with the 275s.

You need an adjustable one if you're gonna lower it....PERIOD.

I just got the UMI ON-CAR adjustable for like $120.00 (can't remember exactly).

BADASS bar.......

Your tire likely will not rub but your rear will most definitely be off center.

From my experience, no. I'm lowered an inch, with 315 rears, and they appear to be centered pretty damn well with the stock panhard bar. They rub equally on both sides. Still need to do some BFHing.

Hrrmm so basically I should put the springs on and see if the rear is off center and go from there? How do you measure it, just look at the position of the rear wheels?

I just lowered mine and my rear "looks" okay to me. I bought an adjustable PHB before I lowered it just it case it was really off. Once I get some more miles on the new set up I will install it. For $100 or so it is a good purchase. I'm running 275's right now, maybe 315's in the future.

What I will do is tie a socket or something on a string and tape it in the center of the wheel well on both side. Kind of like a surveyor's plumbob. You can then adjust the PHB to re-center the rear.

Looks like I'll be in the market for an adjustable panhard bar. I just lowered my car an inch a couple weeks ago, and I'm running 275/30's in the rear, and the stock PHB, but got my alignment asap and everything was in the green. I didn't notice any negative changes, rides smoother than ever before. But for the price its better to be safe than sorry imo, adj. PHB going on the winter mod list. I'd say go for it, might as well err on the side of caution.

I would have to question the quality of the alignment then, usually lowered if the rear is out the thrust angle is off.
That is if a true 4 wheel alignment was done.

Lower it and see where it's at. It's highly recommended that you get one to recenter the rear after the geometry change, but it may not be necessary for you.

You dont have to have one but yes for a 100 bucks it probably wont hurt. My car consistanly will 60 1.40 with a stock phb and my car is lowered a ton.

Well, when you think about how an panhard bar works to align the rearend, any deviation from stock ride height will require an alteration in the bar's length. Many people don't notice the misalignment of the rearend, but it's something you should look into if you're looking to keep the back end square.

Hey guys I have a question as well.. So the SS I just bought was lower about 1.25 in the front with New shocks installed as well. The previous owner gave me the rear springs but they havent been installed. I really want to throw them in but dont have the cash right now for an adjustable panhard. Im running 305/35R18 right now.. what do you guys think? will I need a panhard bar right away or can i run it without one for the time being??

For some reason every car is just a little bit different. When you lower the car though the rear will move to the side due to the geometry of the suspension. I recommend an adjustable phb to be correct but it MAY OR MAY NOT be mandatory b/c of tire rub. Rear springs are easy to swap - if it's off too much to be comfortable then pop the stocks ones back in there.
