Default stock ls3 VS 102 FAST intakes

has anyone compared a stock ls3 intake VS a 102 FAST on a 408??

is the FAST102/TB worth the extra $1000 over a stock ls3??

Its tough to say, typically, no. Lately, We have been seeing some decent gains, but nothing like the LS7 FAST or the LS1/2/6 FAST.

yea thats the problem, cant really fine no "real" info on the two being compared on a engine that most people use

most likely ill be going with new PRC 250cc ls3 heads from TSP and a ls3 intake on a 408ci

now if im only going to gain 10hp and spend $1000 i dont see it worth it

35RWHP over a well ported LS3 intake on the 427. That was after some serious modifications to the FAST 102 including a 107mm NW TB.

Id say those are abnormal gains Kevin, but more on track with the LS7/Gen3 FAST, which is where it should be.

typically, we can 10/10 with just an out of the box FAST. To most of my customers, we dont sell it unless they are looking for max effort.

Do you know what the 107 is/was worth? I didnt think Nick was making them?

Little to none. Ive seen testing on 750fwhp LS engines that changed from a FAST 102mm intake with a 92mm TB to a 102mm TB, on a FAST 102mm intake. The gain was 2hp and it was only at the very last few 100 RPMs

99.9% of people do not need a 102mm throttle body, everyone should be running a 90/92mm. Its the runners that make the power, not the size of the opening for the throttle body.

I did on my 402ci. I had l92 ported heads and a l92 intake. Went to a fast 102 and gained nothing on the dyno. I then went to trickflow heads with a fast and gained nice over the ls3 stuff. then had mammo port the fast 102mm and gained again. You could get the ls3 intake port matched and make a small gain..

Hey Louis,

Hope you're doing well.

I've been told Nick isn't doing the 107mm anymore. I was lucky to get this one.

Here are the numbers:

427 Shawn Miller massaged FAST/107mm TB..656/614

It looks like Shawn managed to get the FAST to produce 35hp with the FAST. Not too bad,

I think you can reach your goal with the LS3 intake. They just peak early in the power band, but hold on to it. Our car pulls strong from 6000-7000

How much more cash did it cost over the stock 102? I guess was it cost effective. I know that your build was a no holds bar build for a street car.

yea im with the ls3, no proof showing gains with $1000 more spent, plus i always can sell the ls3 and get the FAST if worse comes to it

Yea it should work. I can't get an answer about the cost of Kevin's 102 from any one. I'm thinking $$$ or it was free due to shop bragging rights.

I think Shawn and I both invested in making the FAST work on my build. My $$$ and Shawn's time. I don't think he's really interested in doing any more unless it's part of a complete build.

That being said, I made 530RW on my very mild build 403 with a ported L92 car intake and 90mm TB.

Kevin thanks for the answer. I was thinking that he put alot of work into it and didn't want to do any more. It also makes sense that he would like to have the block and heads to mock up to check fitment, port sizes etc.
