Default basically stock '01 ss 1/8th mile

Hey guys, I just got another chance to run the 1/8th in my '01 ss M6. I have a new PB - previous was a 8.63 @ 77 mph. here is the slip times:

R/T .049
60' 2.108
330 5.903
1/8 8.553
MPH 77.76

I made 8 passes - and I had traction issues on 3 passes but all the others were ranging from 8.55 to 8.69. Which i think is pretty consistent considering I have only had the car a little over 2 months. The car is like I said a '01 M6 with everything stock other than a Dynomax bullet cat-back and a short-stick. And I feel that the cat-back may have a gained me a little but the gain is probably barely noticeable. How does this compare to other cars? what do you think I could get out of it in the 1/4? I think I'm doing pretty good so far. I'm hoping after my tax return I can get headers, CAI, an ORY, and possibly tune it. I know I shouldn't expect no serious gains but hoping I can get to a 7.9x in the 1/8 and possibly mid 12's in the 1/4... think its possible with those mods?

you must be letting off before the stripe, cuz that mph is nowhere near right for the 60' and the ET... if i get a 2.10 sixty that puts me in 8.5x range at 85.5+mph...other than that, it looks good....actually...it looks like youre spinning quite a bit on the 1-2 shift...my 330' is in the 5.49-5.7 range depending on wheel spin...that or youre granny shifting real bad

Well I have been spinning pretty bad on the 1-2 shift... a little sideways actually. but I don't know why my MPH is low - I don't let out of it until I'm past the number boards... I'm def not granny shifting, I'm not power shifting it either tho because I haven't gotten a Tick MC and afraid I'll screw my tranny if I do. I'm basically kicking the clutch and throwing it into the next gear. Any clues as to why i'm low on my MPH?

yeah those times look wierd to me.. My breakdown is typically this, and we're very similiar:
60' 2.3
330' 5.5-5.6
550' 8.5-8.6
1/8 9.1-9.3
MPH 83-86
depending on where I hit the 1-2 shift (if track prep is down I'll hit 2nd at 5500 instead of 6200 and it still breaks loose in the groove lol) I do NOT powershift, but I do shift like a raped ape... just enough pedal to release the clutch and almost simultaneously hitting the next gear.. happens faster than I can think about it, and I don't want to bend a fork or break teeth powershifting either...

P.S. are you sure you're looking at the slip right? it should break down like mine above....

PPS.. nobody better make fun of that ET with that MPH.. I will hunt you down LMAO

well here is the time slip...

I dont imagine a somewhat "high" elevation would matter - its not really very high so I don't figure that would factor in - somewhere around 2500'. It was a cool day - low 50s and very windy. but I haven't been able to get a better MPH the last time I went to the strip. All passes were 76-78 MPH. I'm hoping to get to another strip soon to see if I can do better - the local strip has already shut down for the year

Yea that's way low... Might be where the beams are. A local track of mine, you can pick up 2-3mph at the same ET because of where the beams are. But man 8mph is crazy.

yeah I know... I actually may have let out of it before I needed to. Because I can't remember where the beams are exactly. But the weird thing is me and my buddy were racing against each other and his times were similar to mine - one of his runs is the other pass on my slip that I posted. So I don't think its just me because his MPH was lower too than what most are able to do. His car is similar to mine just a WS6 with no major mods. I don't know - thats why I'm kinda wanting to go to another strip and see what it does... probably won't matter tho...

I just talked with one of my buddies about why my car seems slow in the 1/8. He said that the track I ran at is actually 60' short of a full 1/8 mile. And he said between that and since it runs slightly uphill that maybe that was why it seems a little slow. I ain't real sure. You think that would effect it 8 MPH? I guess I'll just have to try another track to see how it compares

That would make it a 600' track and that sounds much more accurate
