Default You guys are gonna shoot me: 95 Z28 V6 turbo swap

Full thread is over here: http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/my-b...ld-188960.html

This project is the follow up to my buddies 12.79 @ 108 Taurus SHO project, the major problem with that car was that the engine was to good for the trans and chassis. The trans would constantly try to start out in second gear ... or explode. But get the car out on the Mexican highway and it would run with cars that were supposedly way faster then it

I wanted to make the Taurus RWD to fix its inherent problems, but this is the direction we decided to go instead. And the guys on the local forum hate this car even more then they hated the Taurus

95 z28 that came already gutted
professional 6 point cage installed along with subframe connectors (weld in)
cowl cut out to push the engine all the way to the firewall
custom trans adapter plate
GM TH400 trans (fully built inc alum drum and trans lock)
custom built converter - 9in, 5500 stall
6 port nitrous setup waiting in the closet just in case
tubular "turbo" front crossmember + control arms
67mm 67/65 Precision turbo
fully rebuilt engine inc forged pistons and +1mm valves
all piping will be SS or alum

Fixed the link.

The motor mount bosses on the motor are all vertical on one side and on the other side they
are offset 3/8" so i drew up a cad file and had some 3/8 plates laser cut. Nothin pretty but
you could use them to bolt an Abrams tank to the wall if you wanted.

I'm assuming this has some custom ground cams in it, right??? With the forged pistons I'm assuming some sort of turbo or supercharging, right???

Those Yahmaha developed SHO motors are brilliant. They just love to rev, I'm sure with some custom cams and other internal mods you could get one of these things to spin up to 9000rpm!!!

I know everybody does V8 miata swaps, but this engine would be perfect for one of those, revs to the moon, 250hp with a couple of easy mods, oh yeah.

Cool. I have a soft spot for SHO V6s. I think they are one of the sexiest looking/sounding V6s made. I almost put a 3L my MGB until I realized it was just way too big to fit. Now it's just sitting in the garage until I find some other use for it.
