Default T56 Carnage(W/Pics)

Had my friend send me some pictures of the T56 after breaking it at the track. Looks like the input and main shafts have some "issues". The case and all the syncros are okay. At this point, I'm really 50/50 on rebuilding this or doing a th350 swap. It had Tick's Stage 2 rebuild in 08 and it has been flawless since then. I don't know a thing about intenals on the T56. Any suggestions on upgraded replacement parts I should purchase if I decide to rebuild? Thanks.

Polluter Cam/Bolt Ons/200 Shot on Drag Radials. Didn't even shift into third gear and the car shut off. Started it back up at the end of the track and nothing.

Those are clean breaks too in the teeth of the gears. That is a sign of shear torque hitting that gear really hard. I bet the drag radials along with an aggressive clutch are responsible for the damage.

dynamite
I just went through my t-56 with upgraded parts from D&D (sorry not sure if they are a sponsor). If you want ideas/help during the rebuild shoot me a PM.
I did upgraded 3/4 fork, new snycros, bronze fork pads, 30 spine main shaft with new tail housing, and billet 3/4 inserts. Bearings were good so I didn't replace any. D&D can tell you what they recommend for upgrades.

I put on the Tick MC with a new slave and am just getting some miles put on it now before the snow comes!!

Thanks everyone. I've decided to go the TH350 route. Big nitrous converter and 3 speeds. I hope I dont get bored of it quick. Time will tell.

I just went the opposite route, going TH350 to T56. I'm selling off the flex plate, spacer and bolt combo that allows a LSx to TH350/TH400 union. If you're interested, PM me.

Gnarly damage, lower_the_dynamite. I hate that the transmission gave up the ghost, but I'm glad it had been flawless for you since 08. You've definitely got a stout setup!

Let me know if we can be of any assistance.

Thanks Joey. Going to try the Auto. If I hate it, the only thing I need to buy back is the Trans and Bell. I figure with a 3800 stall, 3.90 gear, 28" tire, 6700 Shifts and a 200 shot, it should do well. I'll have some numbers next spring.

And i'm going to repaint it agian.
