Default Winter Project Almost Done. Detailed Engine. Pictures Inside.

Well I'm almost done. I've been working feverlishly all winter long on many mods. The Engine is almost done just a few more things I want to do. But it looks good enough to post some pictures.

Let me Know what you think.. Or if you have any ideas for me.

Things On Order or not done yet.

blue hose before the MAF Sensor
Chrome bolts for the intake and water pump (the rest are already chrome)
Blue or Chrome Dipstick.
Optima Yellow Top and some kind of chrome cover. (Steve2000 is your chrome, Polished AL or stainless?)

Suggestions:

1. some sort of caps and covers for your radiator, Oil, PS fluid and such.. also the Master Cylinder Res Cover from MBA is very nice (and made in blue)

2. Fuel Rail covers.. I would suggest blue with white lettering of some sort (im assuming blue is your accent color)

3. Shock tower brace.. in either blue or chrome.

4. remove stickers from shock tower.. and either remove the fuse box stickers or replace the lids with the new aluminum ones (polished?)

5. Replace all "pinch type" hose clamps.. Earls makes some nice chrome ones.. blue would be good also but you dont want TOO much blue (it is an accent color after all)

6. Billet PS pulley from Turn One ($50) you can have this polished, annodized or powder painted..

7. Chrome hood struts.. no dissasembly required. they just chrome dip the whole darn thing..

8. Chrome hood hardware (latches, hinges, etc) I dont remember is you had your hinges powder painted or not..

9. paint the front section of the ABS unit and the lower cylinder of the TCS unit the same color as your intake.. chrome the TCS and ABS brackets (ABS bracket is a bit of a pain to get off.. but it can be done)

That should keep you busy for a couple of days -- Oh, this is assuming you like chrome..

Again, great job!

Your engine bay is looking very clean..

I think steve just wrote the "how to" for detailing engine bays. (I'll have to cut and paste it for further reference)

It looks awesome, and very clean. How about some FRC's as Steve said? Maybe even white w/ blue lettering of some kind.

Just a thought.

Lookin good!
Jon

Great job! Question though...what's coming off your fuel rail? I don't see a nitrous kit. Do tell what the braided line is for.

that is currently for a fuel pressure guauge in the car. Later it will be a good way to hide my FPSS when I do add the N20. The car currently has a ARE Heads and cam package and almost everybolt on there is. It make around 420 to the rear wheels.

LethalWS6: Some things to keep in mind..

1. You could get the satin MBA covers (cheaper) and have them chromed.. voila! now you have low maintenace chrome covers.. you could also get the polished ones and have them clear powder painted.

2. the new fuse cover from Stealt Perfomance (the large cover) would look good painted white or you could have that chromed as well. MBA will soon have billet fuse box covers.. get in blue, have chromed or clear powder the polish..

3. I did the same with my coil racks and stuff but the FRC's really do hide alot of that "clutter" and they are a good way to introduce some color (and you can be creative and put some sort of design on them) -- either way your engine looks

4. Oh, I see your hose ends now and your chrome hood parts.. nice..

5. I would also get a new tensioner bolt from GM and have it chromed.. or you can paint the factory one.

6. and lastly.. Yes the cover is made by Optima.. you could either get a red one or yellow one. at that point you could paint it any color you want. They generally run around $10. This is a recent post paging me about this and giving the name of my source for them.

Keep up the good work on the project. Your off to a great start!

Thanks Again Steve. I just got of the line with Jeff and ordered the PS Pulley.

Just one other question can any shop that chrome plates do the struts? Or did you send them somewhere special. I have a really good chrome plating shop here close to but they are big bucks. Quality is top notch though.

I was told no big deal about chroming the struts.. my regular chrome shop did mine -- you will probley have to paint the plastic ends (I shot mine gloss black) since the chemical sorta make them funky looking (in my case..)

Have fun
