Chevrolet Performance LSX Challenge Series and LSX Shootout - Looks like there just might be a 2012 series...

Just got off the phone with Steve from the NMCA and he said it was looking good for another LSX Series for 2012.
Although he said it wasn't 100% yet, what he did say was that it was looking pretty good.
He also said that they were going to try to spread out the races a little better.
He eluded to a potential schedule that looked like
Mid March Florida
June (unknown location, but I'd guess the same place as the June NMCA Race which would be Either IL-My vote or MD if the same as this year)
September LS Fest in BG again
October LSX Shootout
I for one enjoyed the races this year and think that if we have this extra notice we should be able to get more guys done in time for a better turnout. Come March I will be pretty sick of the Ohio winter and ready for a nice "Spring Break"
I personally would like to say thanks to GM Performance Parts, Scogging Dickey, the NMCA, Holley, Mr. Gasket, GMHTP and all the other sponsors that make this series possible.

Great News I can't wait for the series again next year. By the end of this year the series was building good momentum next year it will be huge. Thanks to GM Performance Parts, Scogging Dickey, the NMCA, Holley, Mr. Gasket, GMHTP, BMR . My Dad and I have been to every LSX race every year since 07 my dad and I live for these races .

Imagine the LSX Series growing to a point where it would be run in conjunction with every NMCA event.
Glad to hear that there is a good chance the series is returning. Also nice if they spread it out.
I heard a rumor at one of the events that there may only be 3 events. I guess we will find out in Dec.
my car should be done, for the march race.........

If it is in IL, can they go any further west? The racers from the North East travel the most and bring the most amount of vehicles to the events.
Why not have a LSX event at MIR?

Someday if the car count continues to rise,we could have JUST a LSX event by itself. No more 12am 1st round eleminations. This is one reason I like the LS Holley Fest so much.

^^^agreed totally. It would be awesome to see a group like Holley back a 4-6 race series and leave NMCA alone.
Thanks for keepng us posted as to the good news concerning the LSX series for 2012. I think that MIR would be a good choice for a June race as we are already going to a midwest race (Indy) at the end of the season. Florida is too far for me to travel but South Georgia Motorsports Park might be a good option if Florida doesn't work out.

Thanks Mark, look forward to another great race season...hopefully at or by PRI (first week in December) everything will be concrete. I really hope we see some more people come out to the first two races, whether it's just to watch the Drag Radial cars battle or to compete and get your hands on a trophy in Rumble. For those who have never attended, it really is a fun time and all the racers have such a great attitude. If you look down the list of big players in the heads-up classes to the hardcore Index racers like Edgar Perez, Rob Farley, Don Dixon, Sean Calabrese and his father...all of these guys are very approachable and great ambassadors to LSX racing. It's been our pleasure to be involved with the LSX Shootout and Challenge Series.

My vote is for MIR too.
The NMCA already has an event there in June.
We have so many racers from the North East already, its only right to spread it out.
I hope to either run the ZO6 in LSX Real Street or maybe Index Race the Z28 in LSX Rumble?

I don't think the car counts at both Bradenton and Commerce were quite up to expectations so I'm thinking that one of those two are being looked at more closely.
But it's still just too soon to tell.

That's greatnews; thanks to GM High Tech, Camaro Performers and GM Perf Parts for getting behind the series! I might bring the Formula down to Bradenton for Rumble again, but at this point it is still too far out to know for sure. But whether I'm racing the Nova or Formula, or working the event, I will be there!
I can see them continuing to have the opener in Bradenton or Atlanta. You want to "get the series going" with the rest of the classes, and Bradenton usually does that. The only problem I see with MIR is that's the event for The HEMI shootout, and Joliet is the NMCA/NMRA Super Bowl, so adding the LSX classes could be a little overboard in the amount of stuff to run, but as mentioned we'll know within a month!

I talked to Charlie Harmon in Indy about Bradenton/ Spring Break, and my personal opinion is that race is too early in the season, this year I know a bunch of folks weren't ready and I don't see that changing. Folks pull motors in December and don't have their cars ready to go until April in the snow belt.

Here in the south people run all year that is why I moved from NY. Last year there was no time this year people have more time and Atlanta was in April there were not to many. If they have the series be ready when ever the dates are I work 60 plus hours a week and make sure I hit them all.

Good points by all, but I think the fact the series had a full year going will get racers on the ball a lot quicker for the 2012 series than this year. Besides, Bradenton is the starter for the season, so why not crank the LSX series there? Gives the northerners an excuse to ditch the crappy weather!
