Drag Racing Results - 14 flat in my GTO :(

So going into tonight, I was expecting to rip off at least a 13.7, probably somewhere closer to 13.4. I have an m6 LS2 GTO w/ catback and intake. Got there and couldn't break into the 13s... I guess maybe it could have something to do with my tires being close to needing replacement in the rear? Still figured after that I should have been in the 13s with all the wheel hop. I was at cecil county which doesn't have too high of a reputation for track prep.

Invest in some drag bags (mad cheap) or suspension, tires are definitely important, unfortunately it's big bucks to get a bigger tire on these cars.

People have been telling me that and to just go with a solid axle. What's your setup look like?

^60' is a huge issue. Get it to hook/launch harder and you should see some better times.

I'm due for a new set of tires too. I was launching a little over 3 this time, does 4 or 5 sound better? Thinking about getting some drag radials and a set of drag bags and trying again in the spring...

4-5k??? That's way too high on street tires. Try leaving just off idle at 1200 or so, maybe even less and slipping the clutch.

Get that sixty to 2.00 and its a 13.2 slip. In comparison my 99 with a lid went 14.4 at 104 with a 2.6. Good luck.

just invest in some 275 MT Streets for the stock wheels. I ran a buddy of mines 06 m6 car with TIRES ONLY and it went 13.2@106 with a low 1.9 60'. I was leaving around 5-5500 and it hooked without any issue at all!

With a 2.4** 60' you need alot more seat time at the track. These are not the easiest car to launch.

That's worse then fwd cars 60'. don't expect a lot your first time out, your times will increase with seat time. With your trap you definitely have mid-low 13's in it.
Best thing you could do is get some drag radials.

its not the car, its the driver and the tires!
