Default Tire size issue

Have an issue here with my tire size on my stock 2001 Z28, running on 245/50/16.

I want to replace the tires as the same original size but the issue is I am not able to find the same sizes in where I live (United Arab Emirates)

I am thinking of 1 of 2 options

1) keep the 16'' size but change the 245/50. Can someone suggest what size to use without messing with the drive-ability / handling of the car?

2) go with 17''. Again what size should I use?
I don't want to mess with the wheel sensors coz I've read that changing the tire size may affect the wheel sensors...

Any other suggestions?

A 275-40-17 will be the same overall diameter as your current tires.

Will the size you suggested fit on a 2001 17" SS rims?

What other sizes can I use with the 16" that will still give me the same overall diameter?

Thanks.
