5.0 Vs 04 GTO
Was on the way to get coffee this morning when I got next to a blue 04 GTO. GTO has headers, catback, intake, tune. Mustang is my wifes car, a 2012 5.0 Automatic with 720 miles on the odometer. GTO punched it at about 40 and by 70mph Mustang was 3-4 cars ahead. Wasn't even close. Went again and same result. I was expecting some sort of fight but I guess not.
GTO is my brother car that lives with me. He now gets to hang his head in shame that the wife's car destroyed his.

I could see it easily outrunning a LS1 GTO...
Hell my Maybellene (2006 LS2 GTO) only trapped 97 mph stock up here..
After test driving a auto 5.0, it feels to be a 102 - 104ish trapping car.

4 cars within 30 mph... get for real. Next time let him know you are racing him.
My old 04 A4 GTO went 12.7 at 109 with LTS, Intake, tune, and DRs. You would have to be pushing 6-700rwhp to put 4 cars on a car like that from 40-70mph, lol.

If he posted that and said from 0-110 I could maybe beleive that COULD happen, but no way do you pulll 4 cars on him from 40-70. That sounds like the gto was driving down the highway and you punched it while he had cruise control on and than turned your flashers on for the "win".

Good run, I raced an Auto 5.0 with DR's at the track (in my stock LS2 GTO at the time). Guy out 60' me by .15 and beat me in the 1/4 by .15. 5.0's are much quicker stock then a 04 GTO. We had an 04 out at the track last night with DR's, shorties, intake, and programmer. He was running 13.3, which isn't bad for not having a real tune. It's a heavy car for the 5.7 until modded. With those mods he has 330 to the wheels. You are lighter and have a good amount more power in stock form.

He was racing. I'll ask him how many cars he thinks it was. Maybe he let off after 1 but it was a killing.
We are at 4500ft here. I would say the Mustang feels like a solid 103-104mph car up here. Brother car trapped 96-97mph here.
Just finished putting the rear diffuser on the 5.0. Maybe that will help it out. It does have a wing, and grill, and a bunch of body mods. I also did a catch can.

Worst case we go find an empty road and repeat the beat down. Hell I'll let him drive the mustang, or my wife can since it is her car and I'll drive the GTO.

Will try. Brother just got home. He said his best trap at the 1/4 has been 93mph up here. Stock 5.0s are trapping 104-105mph so a solid 11-12mph difference is a pretty good beatdown. He said his traction control was kicking on but even from a higher roll it wasn't close.

I am the GTO in question. The car is a LS1 with LTs, exhaust, intake, and a tune. I did give it the beans and kept on it. However, the TC kicked on and fought me. I currently have snow tires on the car (winter is coming) but didn't let off. The car traps about 97 mph at the 4500 feet elevation here.
