Default New Best.Full weight m6 SS. Need cage...barely

After all the problems I've had with my clutch over the past year, it looks like it's all coming together at the right time. My new best went like this.

60' ...1.695
330'...4.805
1/8....7.38 @ 95.32
1k......9.60
1/4.....11.47 @ 121.66
http://youtu.be/BCJNFJrp2lg
I'm now hoping that a change to 26" tires may give me a little more mph and possibly a 11.3? timeslip. Honestly, I was hoping to get an 11.4 at full weight before the year was out, I didn't expect it to come so soon. All this with a stock 154k mile bottom end. Long live the ls!!!!!!!

I was around 4k at launch. I detected a little spin but never lifted.

I don't think the clutch will take a much higher rpm launch. I'll try it next week though. I'd really like to try the skinnies I took off my lt1 car but for some reason they won't fit. My guess is they should be worth around .06

What clutch?

When I was close to full weight, with patriot stage 1's and a torquer II, 418 rwhp, I went 11.36 @ 120.5
1.57 60'
So you definately should be able to better that in good air.

I was launching at 6200 then, spun about 15 ft, wheel speed stayed up and it went well.. Clutch did not like it, but a monster level 3 will take that all day, and it did well, I cut 1.42's with 430 rwhp on it.

And the skinnies should net close to .10

Congrats on the times.

I gotta agree on the clutch. Im using a monster stage 3. I really didn't like it much until I took it to the track. It chattered bad, was a real bitch to drive. A couple good hits, and now it is perfect, no chatter, real nice. Got 20 passes on it and it seems to love the abuse, no smell, no nothing. Its great.

I'm running a twin disc Mcleod clutch. I don't think the car will sustain a 5k rpm launch. Are you guys dumping the clutch or allowing it to slip a bit?

Mine seems to work best with a fast release instead of a clutch dump. The dump seems to hit the tires too hard and spin them a little too much. But I think that is all in the suspension. I'm sure if I changed the shocks alittle, the dump would be fine.

Thanks Bruce. I'd like to try the 26" tires again, but that run was on the 27". I am still hoping for more mph so I may have to try to get the skinnies to fit.

Congrats on the times.

BTW, you only need a 5 point roll bar for 11.50 to 10.00. No need for a cage until 135 mph or single digits...

The skinnies usually clear with a 5/16" spacer iirc

What are you running for suspension?

The 5/16 won't work and I grinded the hell out of one caliper before deciding to quit.

I did get another new best of 11.23 @ 124.2 today with the 17s in front and MT et streets out back. The only other weight reduction done was the spare/jack delete, and the front sway bar removal. Raceweight was probably around 3640.
