Default Crate motor

Hey guys, Im looking into buying a crate motor for my build. Who makes good short/long blocks beside tsp. Nothing against tsp, but just wanna see some others. I tried good, but no luck.

Not really sure on a budget yet. I need to look at some site to see prices. I have a bare lq4 block with 13k on it with the stock crank. I was going to bored it .030 and slap my new ls3 heads I have on it and spray a 150 shot at it. I am having trouble finding pistons that are 4.030 bore with ls3 valve reliefs. At this point I feel it may be better to buy a short block ready for nitrous instead of buying parts and paying for machine work on my block.

PS. I would really like to find a decent priced lsx376/454 motor.

Are the wiseco better or worse than the Mahle L92 4.030 forged that summit and thunder racing sells?

Default Crate Motor

I just ordered a left over Gen III LS1 from GM Performance. PART NUMBER 17801267.
Of the ones left, the cheaper ones don't have the oil pan or exhaust manifolds, but the price was 3750 with all warranties. I couldn't pass it up!

My avatar is the motor.

Dont cheap out on a short block. Find a reputable speed shop who has extensive knowledge building lsx motors.

SLP does engines. Iron block, ls7, ls2, etc. One of the sales reps is on here. Gtoroadracer, he just did a thread on a SLP motor with ls3 heads.

try xtreme horsepower in texas they do exellent work as well.

you could sell off all the parts you have and make up for what a iron short block would cost you.

If you dont plan to stroke it however I would just build the block you have since you have most everything to it. i was under the assumption a 4.030 bore is the STOCK ls3 bore size so why not just buy a forged flat top ls3 piston with -3cc valve reliefes

Well guys, After checking prices, checking prices, and checking a few more prices. I have decided to just build a motor instead of buying one. I just cant justify the cost. Just bought Mahle 4.030 l92 style forged pistons, Eagle H beam rods, and sent Patrick G my info along with 25$. Thanks for all your help.

Im almost positive stock LS3 bore is 4.065, but dont qoute me on that. You cant bore a lq4 out past 4.060 and even then it is questionable. Finding a 4.060 bore piston with L92/LS3 valve reliefs off the shelf is impossible.
