I just had my 4L60E rebuilt and put back in in my 99 SS. About a month later, annoying clanking started coming the same area as where flexplate is located, so that's what I'm leaning towards that. It could also be loose converter bolts, but I figured I would post up in here to get some input before I tear things apart.

Can only be heard at idle. It goes away when accelerating, or just driving at a constant speed. But then it comes back at stoplights. Clanking continues when parked and in gear (at idle). Lately, my gauge cluster has been acting funny and flashing my odometer sometimes. Other than that, the gauges read normal. Is the flywheel related to the starter somehow? From y'alls experience, what does it sound like?

It sounds broke to me. Buy one of Circle D's flexplates from Chris, install it and go down the road.

yes the flywheel, or the flex plate is related to the starter. The starter has a gear that pushes out and turns the flywheel(stick car) or flex plate(auto). Possibly the starter gear is engaging while the engine in running?

My car is at the tranny shop right now cause the verter was loose. Made the same noise.
