Default i want a cam for more top end

Since ive had this 228R ive always wanted a bigger one, and have always thought about the MS3 or similar. Soon i will be pulling the motor and freshening it up, and that would be a great time to swap the cam.....

I am running 4.88 gears and 29.5" tires, and i want to rev it more because of the low gear ratio. I will get ARP rod bolts so i can rev it more. Right now im shifting at 6400 and it seems to act like its short shifting. I mean it runs great and has lots of HP/TQ, but i just want a few more tenths out of it.

Just looking for some opinions here!!

How many degrees of advance is ground into your 228r cam?

Have you considered retarding it a couple of degrees, that would move your power band up.

Have you had it dynoed? Tried shifting higher?

You could be short shifting.

If peak power is 6400 you will be faster shifting several hundred rpm later. How much later depends on where it really falls off hard.
