Default G-body guys.. Where did mount your computer?

Ok I am at the point to mount the computer and run the wiring harness. Where did you guys mount your computer? I am keeping the A/C and both inner fenders will be back on the car. Below are the pictures of what I am working with.

I am using a Victor JR intake Accufab throttle body. I am going to try to run the injector wires and coil plug under the intake to try and hide them. Has anyone tried this? Not sure if it will work but heck it is worth a try.

I was going to try and mount the computer under the dash but really cant find a good spot, also was thinking maybe in the glove box, has anyone mounted theres in there?

Thanks for any help guys.

Tim.

On my 85 cutlass I located the pcm behind the glove box. Its a tight fit and there is really no where to mount it to. Mines just being held in by zip ties. By the way I cut the inside of the glove box out to make room. I am looking to redo it this winter so I'd like see what other people have done.

I mounted it on the drivers side inner fender. I cut up the truck PCM mount and used brake line as spacers.

I deleted my ac, and made a plate to cover it... I intend to weld studs on the inside of this plate (so that you cannot see the bolts from the engine bay) and bolt the pcm to this area, along with the fuse/power distribution block. since Im relocating the battery to free up some space up front, I also am putting a positive battery terminal on the plate, so that it can be accessed from the engine bay... I am using a pcm tray from a s-10 it was the cleanest looking stock pcm tray I could find...

It should all fit in this area, but we will see...

pcm in s10 tray (a couple bucks at junk yard for tray)

so those two components will be on that plate, with the bolts welded to the inside, to keep the plate looking clean on outside...

the positive terminal Im using is in the top right portion of this picture

I am keeping the A/C in there so using a block off plate is not for me. However that S10 tray looks to be a better option than the Camaro one that I have.

Does the S10 tray mount flat? It looks like it does.

Thanks guys keep the pics coming.

you could always extend all the wires and mount it in the trunk, behind a panel (but something bothers me about having it that far away from the motor/injectors, etc) not sure if it would make a difference...

or run the wires into the car at the back of the motor, then back out in between the master cylinder and the drivers side fender (so it keeps it cleaner in the engine bay), then behind the fender wall and to the pcm, where it would be mounted nicely (where the other battery location would be, if you put a battery on the drivers side of the car)...

The S10 tray is definately a clean look, i ended up mounting mine behind the glove box but i have an a/c delete plate. Maybe you could cut out the back of the glove box and find a spot to hang it. You might be able to mount it where the stock computer is on the kick panel also... It is a pretty good bundle of wires that need to be punched thru the firewall.

I mounted my computer in the driver's side fender area where the charcoal canister used to be. It's not fully secure yet though, I'm looking at getting a better holder than the fbody one.

Well I do have the hole from where the speedo cable came through the firewall. I would like to try and use it. I think it might fit under the dash right in front of the console, which I may have to cut a hole in the back of the console to make it work. It will be this weekend before I can get to it.

I dont know why you havent heard of it, but it works for me and was the cleanest looking mount, without me having to make one, which is what i was going to do...

I see them all the time at the junk yard in the s10s, forgot what year mine was out of, but i think 02ish. anyhow, I look at the computer in it and it looked the same as ours, so I bought it hoping it would fit and it was a perfect fit... if people are interested, I can grab the ones i see when i get back to the junk yard... pay what i pay (not a penny more) for them including shipping!

just pm me... and ill get them as i see them, if a person wants one...

I have one left from my dads v8 swap into a 96 s10. It is flat, it does not have a clip to hold the computer though. I bolts to the tray. I will take a pic of it later today and post it.

Default PCM Tray

Here are a few pics of that PCM tray it comes from I believe a 99-02 S-10 or Blazer, the part number is #15995679 and for some strange reason it is even reasonably priced from G.M. I got mine from my local chevy dealer for $15.00 and they had it for me the next day with no shipping charges. It mounts flat and holds the PCM really well.

For only $15.00 from the G.M. dealer it is well worth a shot, not even worth the time to look for one in a junk yard.
