Default 4" vs 4.125" stroke vs timing w/N20?

Gonna start a new build for a 400+ N20 shot shortly. Will be using a RHS 9.240" deck block with 4.125" bore. I'm considering using a 4.125" stroke to get a few extra cubes. My question is with the slower piston speed at TDC do you need more timing or less as compared to a 4" stroke? Will I be able to get more HP per cu in with the longer stroke?

Been thinking about it. What are the rules for it?
Are you running it?

I'm running. Rules are on HPJ in the draggin right section. Same as most TS best 3 pass average no working on the car after the cruise. They're alowing people to put slicks on after the cruise though.

Stick with 4" stroke with short deck for nitrous.

Hey, hated to see your brush with the wall at SGMP. I did the same thing back in Feb but did a 360 and tagged both ends of my car!

Why do you favor the 4" stroke over the 4.100" or 4.125"? To hard to tune?

Piston design.
If your buying all new stuff why not use a tall deck and bigger stroke?
Cubes are a big help for N20 motor.

Our old std. deck motor we used a 3.9 crank for better piston.
I wouldnt trade 10-15 cubes for a good piston, you can make that up with nitrous.

Our tall deck motor is the best of both worlds... 4.25 crank and a strong piston.

I would love to go tall deck but I'm trying to do the impossible....go fast with the stock SS hood. I just love the sleeper look. On the other hand I'm not trying to be competive in X275 but looking to go some 5.30-5.40's for local King of Street stuff.

Justin seems to have good luck with his RHS std deck and 4" crank.
Thats what I would do if I had to use std deck.
Go as big with the bore as you feel comfortable with.

Are you going to run King of the Street at Piedmont? You are going to have to go at least 5.0s to be competitive in that also.

A couple small local tracks have King of Street races with 50 mile cruises. Not too many 5.0 hitters attend. A 5.4x car has won the last 3.

Justin, I talked to you some at Civil Wars and appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. That is a sharp car you have...bumper to bumper!
I thought you said you were running a 4.100" stroke crank? 436 cubes?

Damn right record is 5.01 and it's only going to drop next year.

As atvracer said, shorter stroke allows more compression height on the piston, gives more material for the piston and ring lands, not to mention the skirts.

I dunno most of the cars that run in our local KOTS series Justin is referring to are well put together machines. The ones with 16v batteries might be iffy, but thats about it. If they were a/w intercooled w/ no radiator yes, they couldn't, but they are almost all nitrous cars in that series.
