Default 6.0 performance cause emissions problems?

im doing a swap of a 6.0 iron block into my 85 el camino, im a little new to the ls engines...im wanting to do some mods to the engine, but problem is it will be a daily driver and i will have to pass DE exhaust emissions, and i dont plan on taggin as classic either. i wanted a cam for the engine but will it be out of the question for emissions?

it will be an iron block 6.0, forged pistons (either .010 or .030 over), everything else is stock from a truck untill i start upgrading. will have some f-body headers, duals with dual cats, and i will make an intake for it. probly 4l60e trans...dont like manual trans.

im doing this engine without putting in WAY too much money. so im asking if anybody has some input on some emissions issues with add ons, or possibly some add ons to help get some good HP to the wheels?

You can still run a decent cam and pass emissions by putting a set of CAT's on your car and tuning the car by leaning it out and running a 50/50 mix of denatured alcohol....how do I know this...I did this when I had a forged LS6 in my car with a lumpy 236/236 cam and made 440RWHP to the wheels while passing the sniffer at the tailpipe

Did you get your swap done?
I'm curious what cam you used and did it pass the sniffer?

How lean are we talking?
Did you make a couple attempts at the test or pass the first time?

Setting the A/F as close tp 14:7 or so at idle......I didn't bother to try to pass a first time because with this cam and no CATs since your eyes would hurt from the excess gas fumes but once I put on the CATs, added the alcohol and tweaked the mixture it went through the very first time. Unfortunately there isn't an exact science to this other than what I have described....make sure you have no more than a 50/50 mix (drain the tank and re-fill if you are uncertain) and then just use your tuning software and a wideband O2 sensor to measure your exhaust mixture. If you can't do this have a shop that does tuning close to you perform this for you. Hope this helps.

I was looking for the documentation on your page during this time but the links didn't work. Did I miss it somewhere?
