Hey guys... I am thinking about doing a Gullwing door conversion on my Trans Am convertible and I need a definitive answer on the structural integrity of the A-Pillar. Do they share the same A-Pillar with the coups or have they been reinforced?

I will more than likely be using the GTFactory Gullwing system and the way it's designed, a channel is but into the pillar and the hinge is recessed into it (please see Install link below for info and pics).

PLEASE!!! Let's not make this a typical thread that gets derailed with personal opinions and attacks! I'm simply looking for an answer to an important question. ;)

And YES, I know these are not "REAL" gullwing doors, like what's on the DeLoren, but the A/M refers to this style as "Gullwing" so they are "Gullwing" doors! Let's not get into that pointless debate! :judge:

Like to the install process with info and pics:

I don't follow

Those are Lambo doors, the doors I'm looking to do are called "Gullwing." These type of hings mount on the A-pillar, hence the reason for my post ;)

this 67CamaroRSSS guy says FWIW, the windshield posts are reinforced in a vert so that in the event of a rollover you aren't crushed...

however, i've also heard ALL fbodies have that area reinforced in general as the car was designed to be a t-top and convertible car.

this post here shows you some reinforcements which, to my "knowledge" covers the extent of the added reinforcements to convertibles.

if you strip some of the interior off, compare it to a hardtop (which i'm sure you can find already stripped down at a junkyard)... and please let us know
