Default AI or PRC for heads?

I am on a budget and I am torn between sending my 241s out to AI and have there HRC219 port work done. The cost is about 1200 bucks plus shipping and they claim 40-55rwhp gains with my trex and full bolt ons set up. These heads bump the CR up to 11-1 with stock PVC. I am also looking at Texas Speeds PRC LS6 stage one heads and their PRC 317 Stage 2 heads. These also cost 1200 also but I am getting a new casting and they flow more air than the AI flow graph. Texas Speed told me to expect 40 RWHP? I was curious what others opinions are. AI told me that bench flow numbers are not the only factory of making more power. Although the AI head flows 285 cfm at .600 lift vs the PRC that flows 313 cfm the AI is claiming higher HP gains. Is this possible?

There are differences in flow benches. You cant go just by advertised numbers. Its like dyno's, they dont all read the same. I know AI does good work but I think I would buy PRC heads for a couple reasons. First you get new castings and can sell your old heads or save them and demodd your car if you ever want to then sell the prc heads. Second the PRC heads are a good head also.

No company is going to gaurantee you horse power. You could buy the AI heads and make less power than the PRC heads. Every car reacts different to every part, its never the same.

I'm getting the HCR 241's from AI. When I get them on, I'll post a thread. I was doubtful too about their lower flow specs, but with all the threads here featuring their heads making the power they do, I'm convinced. Their 5.3's outperformed Ed Curtis's PI 215 heads on a 346. Same car, dyno, cam, FAST 102, exhaust, etc.

Phil told me awhile back they have several sets of low mileage 241 castings on hand they'd like to get rid of from people swapping to aftermarket heads over the years. If they still have any left, you could maybe get those at no charge.

Dont know much about TSP heads but I know from what Ive been seeing from AI, they make some serious power for factory castings. I also know the guys at AI are quick to respond to my questions and they know their ****..

Both products will be great performers! If you have any questions about the PRCs feel free to shoot me a pm, email, or call. We will be happy to discuss different options that will optimize your setup.

I would save some more coin and either have AI do a CNC on a 243 head or get a set of as cast TFS 220s

Or save even more get AFR 205s, PRC 227s, or TFS 215-225
(these can be had in the for sale section for a reasonable price)

I have a set of AFR 205s at 62cc for sale at $1600 plus shipping upgraded springs too, shoot me a pm if interested...

I wouldn't sell PRC short. Their PRC237s stood toe-to-toe with TFS's 235s in the famed HorRod catherail port head challenage.

TEA is a contender too. You cain't loose with any of them. TEA, AI, ..... or PRC

Yes they did. That was a great article and showed some great data. Those are the type of things we need to make a good choice regarding performance products.
