Best heads for around 1k?
Alright guys, I'm realistically thinking this build through and don't want to spend a **** load on heads. Car is gonna be a daily/road race ls1 formula and I want as much power as I can get, just don't wnna dish out the coin for some serious cylinder heads. What are the best ones I can get for around 1k? Aftermarket heads? 243s? ...? Or should I just go with some really nice heads and shoot for 500 wheel or close to it?

Aftermarket castings... no way. You might be able to get a set of used LS6 heads and have them ported, but by the time you add valve spring package you'll dentally be over 1,000$

I already have valve springs that will work but I'll probably sell em for some duals and add lightweight valves in there as well but as long as the actual heads themselves are 1k or under then that's what I'm looking for

I think you're gonna have to spend just a little bit more than a grand. $1,125.00 gets you these:

Anyone have any experience with these heads? Flow about the same as the PRC stage one heads for a touch cheaper..

Definitely added those to the list haha..just wondering if it's worth another 10-15rwhp or so for another $500 into heads
I've been looking at AI's porting for awhile but for the $1k they only have their basic valve job, etc porting. At that point should I just have them in for their 218cc port or spend the extra $200 on top of that and get the big daddy 225cc porting and shoot for 500rwhp?

Unless you stumble onto a good used deal, these Texas Speed stage 2.5 ported 5.3 heads are probably the best LS1 bang for the buck.
