Question Its cam time

SO IVE RECENTLY STARTED LOOKING FOR CAMS FOR MY 99 WS6 "LS1". JUST LOOKING TO SEE IF ANYBODY HAS ANY GOOD REFERANCES ON CAMS. I WANT A NIcE AGGRESSIVE CAM THATS GONNA GIVE ME GREAT TOP ENDPOWER AND A REAL NICE SOUND.

ONE OTHER THING I WAS LOOKING INTO WAS THE "LSA" NUMBER ON THE CAMS... IVE RESEARCHED AND NOTICED THAT THE STOCK CAM I HAVE HAS A 116LSA. IVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE BEST FOR THE LS1 IS 112LSA. IS THIS TRUE AND WHAT DOES THIS LSA NUMBER REPRESENT?

STOCK CAM : 202/210 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.496" / 0.496" int/exh lift
116 LSA

CAM I HAVE IN MIND "SO FAR" : 243/251 int/exh Lift Int. .624 Exh. .624 LSA 114° BY COMP CAMS

rear, read, and read more on cam set-ups.There is no way that cam is going to work in what you have. Looks like in your sig you have a cat-back and lid,id start with long tubes and ory, because your going to need it to get any real power anyways.

But for your stock cube engine a 224r cam would be nice with your rear gear, sure you could go 228r or 230ish but without heads your spinning your wheels,so with stock heads id go with a 224r or 224/228 on a 112

There isn't really a best LSA since it just sort of falls in line when you figure out the duration and where you want the valve events.

Yeah your can choice will never work in a ls1. Finish your bolt ons ,after that talk with pat g at eps, sounds like you have alot to learn,i would for sure research as much as you can.you only wanna do things once, so many new guys think a big bad cam will make there car fast, it takes alot more than that,

I thought the "EGR" cams 98-00 were 199/210 @ .050" and LSA 119.5. Not that it matters much.

To expound on the above... you are talking about lobe 13021R for the intake, 13023R for exhaust (LSLs...) right?

Putting those into a DCR spreadsheet gives interesting results. So 114LSA with 110 ICL gives you 7.6:1 DCR with 243 heads... because I am lazy and that is what I already had in that part. It will slightly change with 347cu i and depending on what heads you use. As a comparison, a 224R-112 would be 8.45 in the same setup.

For 0.050" >> 0.006"
IVO 11.5* >> 36.5* BTDC
IVC 51.5* >> 76.5* ABDC
EVO 63.5* >> 88.5* BBDC
EVC 7.5* >> 32.5* ATDC

Overlap is a mere 19* at 0.050...

Do full boltons first... But your cam choice is all wrong!

Read read...or get 228 cam from any sponsor here. My advice is to go with at least a 228 or bigger. My next cam will be in the 23x range..
